I have taken a few online tests to determine were my political stance is. Every test I have taken has shown that I am right in the middle of the polital spectrum. I'm not a far right conservative or a hard left liberal. Now Democrats that I have talked to have no problem with middle of the road people like myself. But Republicans think I am some raging liberal who is going to spend an eternity in hell for not being super right wing. It's that kind of extremist crap that has made me decide to vote Democrat. If they hadn't been so extreme in their views maybe they wouldn't have lost my vote.

For those that don't know who he is... He died in 1968 (so no, this quote is not about is not about Bush Jr. or even Clinton) and most famous for writing "The Grapes of Wrath" and "Of Mice and Men."

"The President must be greater than anyone else, but not better than anyone else. We subject him and his family to close and constant scrutiny and denounce them for things that we ourselves do every day. A Presidential slip of the tongue, a slight error in judgment—social, political, or ethical—can raise a storm of protest. We give the President more work than a man can do, more responsibility than a man should take, more pressure than a man can bear. We abuse him often and rarely praise him. We wear him out, use him up, eat him up. And with all this, Americans have a love for the President that goes beyond loyalty or party nationality; he is ours, and we exercise the right to destroy him."

I have a new, though not unpleasant problem. For 20 years I worked in Corporate America. Strictly Middle Class. Wife 2 Economy cars, 1 dog, 2 cats. In 2005 I got my neck broken in a car accident, (Kid on Drugs) was Paralyzed 4 months, in physical rehab 1 1/2 years.
Got bored, took myself off "Pemanant Disability" and my wife and I started a little company. We market products for disabled pets, and starting another to market battery powered fun transportation.
Long story short, by 2009 it looks like we will move to top tax bracket. So I figured I get all the breaks the "Rich" get that everyone talks about.
Bottom line is after 8 hours with my accountant, I find quite the opposit is true. As an S-Corp. I pay ALL my SS tax, 15%, I begin to lose my tax deductions, because I had some success, I pay my own Insurance, Retiement ect... My CPA tells me that there are no tax breaks for the "Rich", unless I spend money to deduct expense.
Yes, I voted for Bush. So where are his tax breaks?

Ok, so 11 US soldiers died in Iraq today. In the first week of May, we have lost a total of 27 US soliers. Meaning they're dead now. No more wife, kids, family, future nothing. What do you figure will change by next March that would justify having our troops in that meat market. Let me rephrase that. Why not bring them back by March? Why the veto? That region only understands violence. We can't win this fight the way we're fighting it...can we?

Ok, ethical delimma here. I've been working for a large but underfunded state organization for about 4 months. I was part-time when I started and made about $13/hr. About a month after I started, I was bumped up to full-time and told I would get a raise to $15/hr. About 3 payperiods passed and the raise still hadn't gone through. I actually had to go to my boss and ask her to put the request in since payroll said they hadn't rec'd anything. When I checked in with payroll this last payperiod, they said that I was in for a big raise in the next paycheck. I thought that they meant the extra $2/hr, but when I got my check, I was making $22.88/hr! I'm elated, but a little worried. I had already asked my boss for a raise or other compensation for all the extra work I do, but she never ok'd anything. I can't believe she would have ok'd such a huge raise. It's possible she and payroll miscommunicated, but I don't know. Should I say anything?
