I have taken a few online tests to determine were my political stance is. Every test I have taken has shown that I am right in the middle of the polital spectrum. I'm not a far right conservative or a hard left liberal. Now Democrats that I have talked to have no problem with middle of the road people like myself. But Republicans think I am some raging liberal who is going to spend an eternity in hell for not being super right wing. It's that kind of extremist crap that has made me decide to vote Democrat. If they hadn't been so extreme in their views maybe they wouldn't have lost my vote.

Because the "road" has shifted.

Today's Republicans are where Centrists were 30 years ago.

Today's Centrists are where the Democrats were 30 years ago.

And today's Democrats are where lunatic asylum inmates were 30 years ago.

As a Conservative, I'm still where the Republican Party used to be, in the days of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.

I have long thought that if the middle of the political spectrum could include the 60% of Republicans and 60% of Democrats who have similar views on the economy, foreign policy, and domestic concerns, would form a third party they would win elections hands down. We would then be able to start solving the problems affecting our country and point the way for others to follow.

Same here. I used to vote Republican nearly as often as I voted Democrat. But there is no place for moderate Republicans since the Moral Minority took over the Republican Party. Just a bunch of people that want to control others. It's shame too because we actually had a couple of good Republican Governors.

Yes I have taken these tests too and I fall in the middle to left. But what is funny is that while living in France my political views were considered by most to be right-wing. If in France I am right wing what does our American Right look to them?

Where did all our fascists come from in America? Were they courted and indoctrinated by the right in recent times, or have they always been here?

I agree
I agree with the republicans on a bunch of issues, and the democrats on a bunch of issues
However, if I am not loyal to every decision George Bush makes, I am branded an ungodly liberal

Got it. I consider myself an independent or as I like to term it 'a political agnostic'.

Labels, though, would be banned in a perfect world.

The word 'hate' is bandied-about way too much these days, too. I'd like to read or hear people express opposition to my views on things without eliciting the charge of 'hating' whatever or whoever I criticize. After all - a healthy exchange of views on any subject is good.

I always split my ticket and will continue to do just that. I vote the person who is closest to the issues that I consider important, party matters not. I guess I'm a raging liberal also even though I'm registered Independent.

you should have invited him to observe switching operations on the yards. If he grow to be so wound up about a bumper scratch, imagine what he might want to have carried out at the same time as the couplers locked close! Being politically splendid is a real soreness. we've grow to be so comfortable to different's emotions that it truly is grow to be ridiculous! again contained in the day, it grow to be referred to as being "skinny Skinned" my, how far we've come. clearly, i'm being sarcastic!

I don't believe for one minute you all of a sudden decided after taking this 'test' and discussing it with a few democrats that you decided the republicans were so evil. I think you made this whole thing up, typical liberal.

Define "far right" and "far left." If you look, they're both out to take from the people -- their rights and their money and their freedom.

It's just who gets favored after the raping, that distinguishes one camp from the other.

Whatever happened to the concept of leaving people alone and letting them keep the money they earn?
