The US and allied forces have destabilized what order there was in the region. If the US and allied forces pull out now, there will be a vacuum and will easily be filled by who knows what. It could be that al-Qaeda will move in and take over, or it could be that the Taliban will move in. OR, it could be something even worse. Those unfortunate people in Iraq need to be able to have some sort of stability to rebuild their own country. Also, if some "bad guys" are able to make the area their strong hold, they will now think/know that "The West" is filled with wusses who run from a fight and the bad guys will not think twice about launching further attacks against us on our own soil.
I agree that what the US and allied forces are doing right now doesn't appear to be working as well as we could hope. However, why don't you come up with a workable alternative to try and stop criticizing someone else's decisions. Don't just run away screaming like a girl because this effort is too hard or too real or that the cost is way more than people thought it would be. War isn't pretty. It never was, it still isn't, and it never will be. The US and allied forces went into Iraq maybe for the right reasons, maybe for the wrong reasons, but they're there and they need to see that things end well.

I love the rebubbacan's argument (oops) make that an excuse ,that a time line will only embolden the terrorists. We can see how present policy has so weakened and demoralized them so far. Yep by golly it's jus' dem nasty few dead enders we all are dealing with now, we sure got 'em on the run fur sure yep yep yep >>>>>>> and as for the stability thing yessiree it keeps getting a little LESS unstable each and every week. A long time journalist over there reported on CNN that the Mahdi Army had been ordered to stand down so that our troops would take on the Sunni insurgents to make it easier for them later. Yep we really got 'em in trouble now

How many insurgents were killed? I was wondering that today as I yet again read the headlines. Our military is performing an important service to this nation by remaining in Iraq and helping them to stabilize. The stabilization of that region is of vital interest to not only our national security and economy, but its also important to our place in the world. You are obviously a pessimist. But pulling out now or giving a date will create more violence, more deaths, and ultimately more weakness to the United States of America. Unless you are an experienced military strategist you have no clue about what we can or cannot win.

Ok honestly, pulling out of the war will do less good then staying. No one wants to be in war when they are in it...and there will always be those for or against it...but war is necessary. Death is necessary. You have to believe that those that die for their country are added to the long list of those that have given us the freedom to speak our minds right now. Name one war where there was not a group of people that were against it. I am not condoning mass slaughters, but yes death in war is inevitable. Furthermore, can you name one President that did not have some sort of group against him? Hindsight is 20/20 as the old cliche goes. There is a better way to fight and restore order...there is always room for improvement...but if you sign up for the army you should be willing to fight and to die for your country. I am sure i am going to get some hate mail regarding this post, but honesty is better then holding back to have people like you.

We are over there for the people of Iraq. The ones who have suffered for years at the hands of a dictorial government and are dying to have a free nation. It's an extremely costly war for us, but to back out would be to state that we can't help anyone outside of our borders. Which would encourage the terrorist to become bolder, kill more openly knowing that the can get away clean cause the United States is confined to their own borders.

It's my opinion that if we give a pull-out date, we might as well just hand over all our top-secret or otherwise classified files... It's like laying poker and telling your opponent what your cards are.
Personally, I have a hard time believing the stupidity of folks who think giving away our game plan is a good idea... It's WAR... not tiddly-winks...

our infamous president started something we can't finish ! The only real solution is to start a draft and get 400,000 troops over there ! No I'm NOT for this , but Bush has forced our hand ! Bogus intelligence and arrogance lit the fuse. I believed the no fly zones were sufficient. Pulling out now would be impractical . Israel needs to deal with it...especially Iran who wants it blown off of the face of the Earth !!!!!!

BRAVO to "BOYE's" response !! Please note Boye, that it was the Republicans who lead during that war also.
As a veteran (VFW, Purple Heart)... I aways laugh when "liberals" cry at the death of 10-20 soldiers... yet DEMAND the death of millions of unborn children.

Better to die there than here, I know every US soldier would say that.
Look un-till these people treat each-other right we must do what we have to.
We need a stable government there that's the bottom line.
