Dont give me a retarded "yep" or "nope"

I have seen conservatives shout something nasty and then drive away quickly often, thats why I ask.

Also, a lot of partisan Pro-Republicans who support ANY war Bush orders but wouldnt DREAM of leaving their plush lifestyle to do something as plebian as serving their country.

Not all, but enough to notice a pattern

Recently, some have called for Don Imus' dismissal after his having called the members of the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos". Of course, such language is VERY offensive, but black rappers use those words (and worse) all the time, so what's the difference? Also, Jesse Jackson once called New York City "Hymie Town" because of its large Jewish population, so why does he still have a following?

Sorry but I just had to illustrate the silliness of the people on this board arguing that the US has been in decline economically since the 1980s. This is a perfect analogy - the US economy was going to hell in a handbasket in the 1970s as a direct result of the economic policies in place at the time - we then dumped Keynes and Galbraith, eliminated price controls, cut tax rates, reduced regulation, cut tariffs, allowed the economy to grow naturally, and as a result we don't have to stimulate it as much with inflation and thus on top of the growth have more price stability.

Now when you talk of "the rich" you're talking about 15% of us, not 1.5% of us, and if there's a "comfortable" class, a "becoming rich" class, that's about 30% of us. A minority, yes, but a minority about 10 times its size in the 1970s, and if we continue the low tax rates and low regulation and just freeze - not cut, just freeze - federal spending, it's be a majority in 2 generations.

The Polish people refused to honor Hitler during the WWII and kept track of their countrymen who betrayed their country. When the war was over, they searched out those traitors and justifiably shot them . It seems that every act of treason perpetrated by our 'own' since 9/11 has gone unpunished. I think it should stop. I am not saying we need to shoot them (at least not until after a fair trial).........but why do those who leak sensitive info or otherwise compromise our national security not have to fear retribution?

-Debating/parsing torture
-Getting 99% of the world to think "American" is a dirty word.

I remember when the U.S. had good standing and was admired the world over. Then came Bush and his cowboy/redneck foreign policies.

How can we pick our selves up after Bush and become world leaders again?

Isn't that only fair? That an equal percentage of EVERYONE'S money is paid in taxes no matter what their income is? Instead you have all of the left-wingers screaming about how we should make the rich pay more...(which the rich already do, they make more money, so the money taken from that percentage is higher than a lower class person) Of course, when it involves any of them, then they want nothing to do with it. I'd be willing to bet if I threw a few million dollars a lib's way, that then he'd be against a graduated tax rate.
We need to stop punishing the rich people for being successful, because it sure as heck isn't the capitalistic way.
It's communist is what it is.

I have heard many people say that it is, but I really wonder if that is the case. After all, we are now the lone superpower of the world, though quite soon we will have to vie with China for the position. Of course, we have also had our share of depressions and recessions, but what great nation hasn't?

I would favor the establishment of a publicly owned, non-profit insurance company which provides a lower tier, basic healthcare insurance. Private insurance companies could continue to sell policies for upper tier coverage that fill in gaps from the basic plan.
Every American would be required to purchase this basic, affordable coverage. The cost of the policy should have an upper end cap and progress downward based on income level to the point of free for poverty level incomes. This would put all Americans in a single group fund, which will create economy of service.
It would be vitally important that the funds generated in this entity not be mingled with the general treasury funds, as done with the social security funds. There would be years that this insurance group would have a surplus and years with a deficit. In surplus years, the cost of the policies should be lowered. In deficit years it should be increased. If the funds go into the general treasury, the cost of these policies would never go down. They would only increase when deficit years roll around. One deficit years would create an increase, which might be followed by 4 or 5 surplus years. The government would enjoy the surplus, then increase the cost again in year 6 because of another deficit. This is one of the major problems with the social security system. The government uses the social security system as a revenue source. There is a major danger of the same thing happening if a national healthcare system is established. Americans would find the cost of healthcare continuously going up if it becomes a general treasury item.
Eliminating the profit from a basic health plan could lower the cost of insurance 20% or more. With a group that includes every American, we could see a 40% drop in insurance cost. Keeping upper tier insurance available thru private health plans would keep the medical industry vibrant.

Global warming is happening. Pretty much everyone understands that. What's causing it is less clear. Some say it's a natural cycle, some say it's largely caused by human emissions. I'm not going to say which because there is no real way to tell, despite what the protagonists of either want to believe. I don't think driving a Prius and changing lightbulbs is going to make a hill of beans difference in the trend, but if that's what floats your boat, go for it.

My question deals with cloud cover. From what I've read, there are two types that are relevant to the GW stuff, high cirrus clouds, and lower cumulus clouds. The cirrus clouds are heat-trappers, cumulus clouds are coolers. Apparently, as an ocean warms, formation of cirrus clouds lessen, and formation of cumulus clouds increases. The net effect is to cool rather than to heat, mitigating other influences on the warming trend.

My question is, why don't the Gore types mention this in all their hooplah and gala events?
