My brother turned 18 a few months ago, and received his first selective service thing. Is he being forced to join the military? It says if he does not register, he would expect 5 years in prison and / or $250k fine, and loss of federal benefits.

What exactly is it? Will I be asked to join when I turn 18? (Even if I'm doing well in school?)

Sometimes we are selfish and think about our own problems and forget about other people . Sad.. . . but true .

Are there any victims' family members on this site ? If so, would you feel up to sharing ?

JFK stopped WW3/Nuclear holocaust by 1st not invading Cuba & then by appeasing the Soviets by promising to withdraw all US Nuclear missiles from bases in Turkey. In that case appeasement actually worked very well, solved a extremely serious problem & saved the world from total destruction. Neville Chamberlin made the wrong choice at the wrong time but that doesn't mean that appeasement never works.

JFK showed that sometimes it works very well. Sometimes you have to give a little to get back something you want in return. In the business world they call it a DEAL & it's one of the main reasons why US business are so successful & no one gets killed. Bush may want to pick up a book on the Cuban missile crisis because he might actually learn that might doesn't always make right. Unless of course you are trying to take over the world then it makes perfect sense.

Hollywood has flipped for Barack Obama.

One thing Hollywood understands better than most, is talent and the ability to connect with their audience.

Is Hollywood right or will the audience give Barack Obama a two thumbs down?

I was wondering whether it is the councils responsibility to keep rubbish off of your street? we have loads of people walking past and rubbish ends up all down the road. Is it the people living on the roads responsibily to keep it clean or is that what we pay our council tax for? don't want to seem like a moaner if I ring them!

When someone was cited and arrested for public intoxication and battery, on the citation, the officer wrongly recorded an out of state sales ID as a CA driver's license. Is this a technicality that can get the charges dismissed? Looking for any legal loophole!

O.J. Simpson was liable for the killings in a wrongful death lawsuit and was ordered to pay $33.5 million to the Goldman family. If hes found not guilty, then shouldnt he walk away free and clear of any other dangers? Heck, for $33.5 million, might as well find me guilty. I think this is even worse then being found guilty of murder.

The one thing that i have noticed more and more in recent years is the growing 'Nanny' culture the government is inflicting on the British public. But is it our own fault for being a nation of 'over-the-hill' wingers, or do you think that we need new laws and regulations to save us from ourselves? I have to say, it makes me ashamed to be British and can't help but wonder whether if voting was made compulsary for over 16's then there would be a much broader opinion and we would not feel the need or have the right to winge as much!

If prostitution was their only charge, not drug possession or anything else, how much are the fines? How long is jail time? And if they were trying to look for other work, what would employers think of their record?

I am not one, I was only curious for a friend.
