I live in the UK

1)If I work full time in an office but go to university on fridays during term time (this is approxomately a bit under half of the fridays a year) - what is the legal amount of paid holiday my employers must give me ?

1)Is there a law to determine wether you should have some sick pay or is it up to the employer if they pay you ?

Thanx for your help people

I have been fortunate in that I have a great job as an airline pilot and a relatively healthy carefree life. I live in the Florida Keys and while I am not rolling in money, I have everything that I need and then some. I came from a background of abject poverty and know how it is to not even be able to have money to eat. I want to help someone somewhere else in another country to be able to do so, but do not want most of my money to get squandered by a big organization, I want to send the money annonymously directly to the person. What ways do you suggest I obtain these address so I can help out?

am doing some research for a paper so serious answers only please. I would like to know your feelings on Gays in the Military. I would also like to know how you feel about the current policy in place. Now Imagine for a min that you are on the frontlines and all you have is your buddies to your left or right and you are praying that they remeber that last 1st aid class or they got 40 out of 40 on their weapons qualification. At this very moment are you thinking " Are they gay"? Does it really matter to you their sexuality and why. What are your why's and why nots. Also if you can point me in direction of any "credible" resources that discuss this topic let me know. I am researching for a paper and I am not gay but my position is that I feel the current policy protects the homosexuals privacy and sheilds them from any ridicule after all sexual orientation does not affect job performance and we "all" know that "AIDS" is NOT a disease that affects homosexuals only.

As from 1st April 2007 the police will not be allowed to breathalyse anyone who can prove that they are of the Islamic faith. This is because the faith forbids the use of alcohol and therefore to suggest that a devout Muslim has been drinking is to insult their faith. The law applies to everyone, regardless of colour

Considering leaders of todays world, and yesteryears. I can only commened respect to Alexander the Great. Who through adversity and bravery went and battled wars with his country folks at all occasions.
In retrospect to todays leaders, who I believe shouldnt be called leaders since they do not lead by example. Whatever happened to leaders like Alexander the Great?

Just curious.

Although the majority of people are likely to say one person-one vote, i do wonder if other systems have merit.

People with lots of land have more impact on society, should they have more say ?

I guess I could also ask the same about people with money. People who have £100 million have more impact on society, should they have more say ( in votes ?)

I don't know, just asking.

I know the biggest objection is people shouldn't be able to buy power or votes, but the reality is that people with more land and money have more power so maybe they should have more formal say in the running of the country ?

this used to be the system. Its wasn't all great, but perhaps it had some merits ?

Ok all Australian people should know this ad im about to talk about...Its the one for speeding. And the police officer says "If we stop P platers speeding we will stop them crashing". Ok yea thats true. BUT P PLATERS ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WHO SPEED! It just really annoys me! Im a P plater and yes it is true that the police pick on P platers, and its unfair! Do you think that ad should be changed to, "If we stop the speeders we will stop the crashes"? what do you all think?

Due to Home Office incompetence and overspends, all the police authority budgets are being capped and when the forces concerned lose officers through natural wastage they cannot afford to replace them !!!

Why do people make him out to be great and all when he murded loads of people and made his first wife to take all the blame for it? he framed his wife for murders he commited and people say that she left him as he was working to hard. well she was exicuted if it helps with the facts! People need ot know the truth today of the world. we are being kept secrets which in no froum should be kept to securety levels. If there is some massive nucler wepon which could destry the world then we need to know about it today. if politions wanted to do the best for the people of the world why dont they ask what we want. take up your hands and start asking questions about super wepons. there are some out there. it would be stupid for govements to tell us yes but only in there view. but i think we should know about them. If we are all gonig to kill each other and our govements are going to use wepons of mass distruction. dont you think we should know about it so that we can prep ourselvs for the worst.

Iwrote the other day about our foster child and things she had stolen over xmas. We reported this on Thursday last week. Despite the police making 2 arrangements to see us we still have had no one come to our house and /or explanations or excuses. I know people may say go to the police yourselves but we are interested in other people and their similar experiemces. Surely we are not the only ones who have been ignored??

I thought Bushs mission was to free Iraq from the tyran Suddam. Now that over 30000 iraqis estimated to have died because of the war in one year. Eliminating Suddam has created factions and instability in Iraq. The originial mission statement declared by Bush was to wage war on countries who harbour terrorists. Bush changed that mission to finding weapons of mass destruction. Both missions were fruitless. Then he declared he wanted to eliminate suddam and free (liberate) the iraqi people. This mission looks like has failed too. The question is, did Suddam bring order to Iraq (was he worth more alive then dead) - keeping in mind estimates of 30000 innocent iraqis from last year alone have been killed due to instability created by Bush?
