Surely Social Services, rather than the Police, if you have to call an outside body in at all. Have you discussed this with the girl ? I would not want to be fostered by someone like you.

My wife and I took in several foster children, - eventually adopting one of them. Stealing is unfortunately not uncommon among foster children. For the most part, these kids are starved for love and attention and will often do outrageous things to get it. Their sense of values is often skewed and they may not see anything wrong in taking what they want. It seems your main concern here is 'why aren't the police doing something about this?' when you should be entirely focused on the welfare of the child. My advice is to write off the stolen item(s) and for the sake of the children, get out of foster care.

I have no experience of this but it may be that the police see this as a domestic incident, which is a low priority in their case list. I think you're very brave to take on a foster child, especially as she is clearly quite disturbed, and I applaud you for this. You have more guts than most of us who would not want to take on this responsibility and problem.
Good luck, I hope you get some good and constructive answers to your problem.

Would you call the cops on your birth child? No?
Well maybe your foster child senses that you have a double standard and love your birth child more?
And maybe that is why the child doesn't respect you enough not to steal from you.
You are supposed to be teaching this child with love, not trying to put them in jail.
The police probly won'y come cuz they think its horrible you called them on your own foster child.

The police today are only interested in Major crime this to them is only a minor thing, if you wish them to get involved unfortunately you will have to go to them a make a fuss , demand to to be seen other wise you will be ignored

Now give the kid a chance, if there is another problem
then go to the police, sometimes people especially children
who come from shaky backgrounds make the wrong
decisions and commit a crime, and it is a cry for attention
rather than just a malicious act..............................................
Take the child to a psych first, before the police if it happens
again then hand them over to the police..................................

No.Your not the only ones to be ignored. It happens all over the US all the time. The only time you get a timely response out of a policeman is when the crime is publicized in the news .Otherwise your out of luck.
