It doesn't take long.

If your speedometer was showing 60, you were probably only doing aboutt 54-55 mph as most speedometers over-read by upto 10% and a speed camera will normally activate at the speed limit + 10% + 2mph (57 in a 50 zone) so you might be OK.

I went past a van on the M4 doing 80 (according to the speedo) but 74 according to my Sat Nav - and I've had no ticket.

The Road Traffic Act says that to be prosecuted for an offence such as speeding then you must receive a Notice of Intended Prosecution within 14 days of the alleged offence. Failure to do so will make such a prosecution null and void.

If you don't hear anything within 14 days you are in the clear, I had to sweat it out the other month, I was doing 130 mph on the motor way, how I got away with that one I will never know.

The answer by "Chadders" used to be correct. However they now have only to prove that they posted the Notice of Intended Prosecution (n.o.i.p) in time to get to you within 14 days. It does not have to be sent recorded delivery and they do not have to prove that you received it.
See how they have made things easier for the brain dead "partnerships" that find it difficult to interpret photos.

The letter has to reach you with 28 days of the incident.

I got one last week. Damn.

You could possibly try ring the police in the area you were driving in to see if they can help.

Sorry not more helpful

It will depend on the Police Authority.
But you've admitted you were speeding. Thus you have broken the law. I do hope you will accept the consequences of your action.
