This week, Mahmoud Abbas ("Abu Mazen"), the Chairman of the Palestinian Authority, told a rally in Ramallah that the "moderate Palestinians" in the Fatah must understand that their job was to kill Israelis.

In fact, he stated, "We will not give up our principles and we have said that rifles should be directed against the [so-called Israeli] occupation."

Is that really what the moderate Arabs should be doing?

Will that bring about peace in the region?

Is this the man among the Arabs that the United States should trust? Is he any better than the arch-terrorist Arafat?

Basically, I've looked a little bit into the job and it sounds interesting... I've read all the pre-requisites, application process, et al, but I couldn't really find much about being a Special Agent on the site, so I was wondering if any one here could maybe just talk about what they do?

My biggest question was, do you get a lot of field duty? Are you actually out investigating, or are you sitting in the office doing paperwork? I know with investigation comes paperwork, but would you say you do a fair balance of each?

I won't be able to apply for at least eight years anyway, but I'm just trying to get a feel for it now to see what I can do that could make myself more valuable.

I've looked into the FBI jobs and it seems like they departmentalize everything too much... With NCIS, they made it sound like everyone gets more equal opportunity and learn more while still having some special background or skill that is valuable to the organization.

Ey, thanks in advance!

I want to know what makes a person or group a terrorist and what distinguishes them from a mass killer whether they are foreign or domestic. I myself believe Bush and the administration have pounded the word terrorism in to everyones mind so much that it is pre-programed in everyday life. What do you think! BRAINWASHED people, I think!!!!!!!!!

Throughout American history, we have seen patterns of converting and stealing. The Natives were "civilized" to Christianity and got screwed out of their land. Does "trail of tears" ring a bell? Is it part of our national egotistical delusion to believe in manifest destiny? Manifest destiny states that America is chosen by God. Oh wait, I thought Israel was chosen by God? The point I am trying to make is that "holier than thou" attitudes gives the feeling that only certain "God given" privileges belong to the chosen group. I feel that deep down inside, religion is just a front for the human desire to conquer one another. The bible is filled with stories of the chosen people committing wars and genocide on tribes that did nothing to them.

We won the Iraqi war, we are no longer fighting the Iraqi government. We are now fighting the war on terror. Bin Laden said himself that the fight in Iraq is important for their cause...we didn't choose this fight just like WW2...the war came to us on 9/11...and we responded...we took the fight to them...we aren't fighting the war on terror in america, europe, asia, or africa like we are in iraq...where do complaining americans want to fight the war on terror...if they want to pull out of iraq now...and as far as the legality of the war...it was U.N. backed...backed by congress...NOT just Bush...

F*ck it! I was never inclined to, but I'm voting BNP, they might be hard-liners but at least they'll sort out the initial problem until we can vote somebody else in. Does anyone care to comment?

In one case, convicted middlemen for Iran bought Tomcat parts from the Defense Department's surplus division. Customs agents confiscated them and returned them to the Pentagon, which sold them again — customs evidence tags still attached — to another buyer, a suspected broker for Iran.

That incident appalled even an expert on weaknesses in Pentagon surplus security controls.

Having watched, along with millions of other people the Ch4 Dispatches programme - http://www.channel4.com/news/dispatches/themes/society_theme_landing.html on 15/01/07, I cannot help but wonder why UK troops are in Afghanistan and Iraq (which, as I understood, was to maintain our own Nations' democracy, peace, etc) when, according to the above programme, UK people are allegedly "being groomed" to accept and change to the Islamic Faith or face the consequences - which is contrary to what the UK Govt are saying.

IF this programme is correct in the facts, WHY has UK Govt not shut down, or deported these "missionaries" (sic) when our own UK children are not even allowed to wear the Christian cross around thier neck?

A Dispatches reporter attends mosques run by organisations whose public faces are presented as moderate and finds preachers condemning integration into British society, condemning democracy and praising the Taliban for killing British soldiers.
