You need to take the postal exam.

You also need to apply for veteran disability when you go through TAPS. It's painless, just a lot of paperwork, you should be used to that.

After taking the postal exam, you'll be awarded 5 bonus points for being active duty 3+ years and 10 points if you're awarded a disability rating.

You can also transfer your time in service year-for-year to postal work.

Your military service will give you extra points on the civil service exam. The career center on base should be able to give you all the information you need for applying in the area in which you wish to move.

Your military experience and classification will help you get the position. But if you are wanting to know about the psycological effects of the active service then you are going to need help.
