It is very unlikely that the BNP will gain power of government in UK through the ballot box. The reason for this is the way in which we choose our representatives. UK has a first past the post system of electing people to parliament, which means that a candidate must take a majority of the votes in order to win. In other words, the winner has more votes than the second person and also more votes than the third etc person in the race.
In some EU countries, they have a PR (proportional representation) method of voting and this means that lesser parties, such as BNP, are able to get one or two or more MPs elected to the central legislature.
There are now sufficient (six I think) number of right wing MEPs to form a caucus - which they have done. This group can now have access to committees and other meetings which are usually denied to independent MEPs.

Plenty people would vote for them unfortunately. However since it seems to be the party that gets voted for most in the south of england that gets into power, hopefully that means no to a bnp government

they are already in ability, having taken many council seats. in case you recommend prevailing a prevalent election, then the possibility is low. yet never say never. The far appropriate have greater ability in France and Austria and not in any respect have been theory by many to be waiting to take administration of Germany interior the 1930's. nope, this country does not like extremists, for good reason too.
Thankfully, most British people are not un-intelligent, they can work out the end result if such parties were to have power.
Margret Thatcher had to go because she became too extreme and dominating, the same is happening to Tony Blair, leave them in power too long and they forget that they are there for us, not there to carry through their own beliefs. Oliver Cromwell, started off well, very well in fact, done a great deal of good. Then he became a tyrant, so we cut off his head.

Never...but think on this; the main parties will take a wee few ideas and beliefs from the party in question and mix & bake until it becomes something we all (supposedly) can believe in...remember the Tories snatching a few ideas from the NF many years ago, and like it or not...a wee bit of bastardizing looks like the way forward (from both sides of the fence), but as we're all wary - and downright harsh - of the current situation in England, perhaps it's believed nipping and cutting ideas from the BNP to strengthen, say the Cons. - or New Labour (ahem) may find them joy from the populists, who as long as there's the lottery, soap operas and footy on Saturday, nowt else matters.
The BNP in full power however would never happen on account of the chance of civil war - and if you think that only happened in the centuries of long ago (Peterloo, etc), think again.

The surge of support for the BNP reminds me of how Hitler came to power. Unfortunately, history does repeat itself. Our politicians need to wake up to this and address the concerns of the vast majority of the people of this country.

Unfortunately they do have a few bad ones in their group. But their popularity up north seems to be increasing. In towns such as Oldham and Bradford (cant imagine why!) If the present situation escalates then yes, i can see a time when they come into power.

Thankfully the BNP stand no chance at all in becoming a Government. Fascism is NOT the answer, because there are all sorts of things that go with it. Anti-Semites, racism, anti-communism, rioting, political murders, concentration camps, death camps forced labour.
Then we will see the rise of the Secret State Police and big brother will no longer be a TV programme it will become a reality.
It was a fine time for people in Germany who were nazis, but if you didn't fit in, you were got rid of.
