The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor began at 7:53 am (Hawaii time) this day 65 years ago. Over 2400 American servicemen died.
This attack was an incredible tactical victory for the tiny island nation of Japan. But it also sealed her fate as the human testing ground of the worst weapon ever created by man.
There was no turning back once Pandora was out of the box. My parents lived in a world where they regularily hid under their little wooden school desks from possible nuclear bombs. My uncle married a lady who as a child had been a prisoner-of-war for merely being born Japanese in Canada. And now angry, religious, testosterone driven young men are killing themselves and as many "infidels" as they can take with them.
What do you think of war? Will mankind ever be at peace or will we always have one more "day to remember" like Dec 7 or Sept 11?

Hello, I am 18 years old and I have just got an infraction/"Disturbing the Peace". Will this hurt me on job applications or getting licenses? I have a job interview coming up with the Police Department to become a police cadet. Will this infraction significantly reduce my chances of becoming a police cadet or becomeing a police officer? Do I even HAVE to tell them about the infraction?
Thanks in Advance!

Here is the Oxford definition of a nation.

A relatively large group of people organized under a single, usually independent and sovereign government; a country.

Quebec is neither independent (lost 2 times the referendum), neither a sovereign country.
At the very best it is only a distinct society.

My girlfriend is a dog trainer (mostly search and rescue, but some obedience). She was driving in upstate New York with 2 dogs in crates in the back of her full sized Bronco. The weather was in the 50's. She stopped at a fast food resterant for a quick bite (the dogs had already been fed and watered and did their business before she stopped for herself) cracked the front and back windows for ventilation. When she came out of the resterant appox 15 minutes. A cop was trying to slimjim her lock and an animal control officer and K9 unit were there trying to rescue her "abused" animals. After a heated argument she was let go with a warning. Is there a law how long you can leave animals unattended in a car or truck without abusing them? If so, do K9 cops stop for donuts?

I was seven months old when Pearl Harbor was attacked. My earliest memories are of World War II, but I was too little to understand much about it.

I believe our response to the attack was the right one, and am proud of the U.S. role in World War II, but I don't hate the Japanese or Germans. In fact, I love the wonderful Japanese people and I am of German descent.

I remember going to the store with my mom or aunt and them not being able to get coffee because there was none available, and the storekeeper saying "you know there's a war on." But I didn't really know what that meant.

Recently my unmarried brother died in California. He has no will that we know of. I am the closest survivor (sister). However, his retirement from work listed the beneficiary as my other brother (deceased in 2001). Don't know if I am also listed or not. The other brother had a child and wife (not the mother of said child). I am not mercenary, but wonder what's in it for me.

What effect did civil rights have on you?

Did things change immediately or suddenly in your community?

What did you parents think about the civil rights movement?

Did your friends change their views because they had to or because they wanted to??

OK....say you are a man and you accidentally or on purpose get pregnant. So you do. Then the woman who impregnates you decides you cannot have it and you will have to go get an abortion because she said she does not want it. You have no choice in the matter. Can the woman decide what you can do with your body or to have that child or not?

My friend intends to travel to Canada on a visit visa and stay with his relatives (Permanent Residents). He wants to change his visitor visa to student visa or work permit from within Canada itself, basically settle down there and become permanent resident. What needs to be done and how. If you have similar experience in this regard or have heard of it, please reply.
