What makes them different is that they can be dropped into action much quicker than ordinary ground infantry. They also get extra money for having their wings. At a parachute jump of a height of1,000ft. they are on the ground in 45 seconds after exiting the aircraft. That's pretty quick!!

I guess you are doing BTEC Public Services at a rough guess. I advise you talk to the Army careers office. They are specialist in parachute operations (obviously!) jumping out of the back of C130s (Hercules). They go anywhere the Army goes. I believe it is quite tough, sort of Special Operations I would think. Look on the Army website.

I did a quick search in Google using "red beret parachute regiment". This site popped up, it looks quite good.

Barely any information???

www.army.mod.uk/para/
www.regiments.org/regiments/uk/specfor/para.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parachute_Regiment

Wikipedia seems to have a breakdown of their past and present operations, battle honours and external links!

Good luck with your presentation!
