What other strange and / or outdated laws are still in place ?

(And no I am not lying about the cab things. It's true. Still in place from when horses and carts were used as transport - the law just hasn't been changed yet. If a copper WANTED to, he - or she - could book you for it!)

I already am a US citizen. I already know citizenship allows one to hold certain public offices, as well as government employment.

This may be little motivation, however, to many immigrants, especially illegal immigrants. Why then, would anyone be motivated in our current society to work to become a US citizen?
...so they can pay taxes?
...so they can be drafted, if necessary?
In my opinion, non-US citizens have access to our public schools, our Emergency Rooms, our stores, etc. For all I know, they can even procure a driver's license and get officially married here.

Meanwhile, the citizens pick up most of the bill...or suffer when public institutions close, like hospitals.

And we justify this, because our fruit and vegetables cost less to pick?

I think we have belittled the value of US citizenship, and made it irrelevant. And, now, I think we lack the resolve to restrict public services to non-citizens, or make them pay for it.

And your thoughts are?

carpet bomb the next "evil Iraqi government" that emerges? if one should?

Remember, our initial military campaign defeated the Iraqi government in short order. We are losing the occupation, because we are trying to impose a form of government on the Iraqis that they do not want. It seems that it would be less costly in terms of money and lives to defeat the nation-state instead of trying to change the psychology of the average iraqi mind.

Military campaigns have only been successful against nation-states, not against ideas. For example, the Japaneese defeated the Philippines government in WWII, as did the NAZIs in France, but the ideology of freedom caused each agressor to eventually lose. The Russians learned this lesson in Afghanistan, and the US learned it in Vietnam. So why are we trying to once again tilt at windmills in Iraq? You cannot impose Democracy at gunpoint.

I signed up for a nine month promotion for $72.99/month with Adelphia. I was charged an extra $35.00 on my next bill when Comcast took over. I've talked to nine representatives. Three of which said my bill would be corrected. Last night I talked to someone who said it wouldn't be. I cancelled my service. Today I talked to a rep who said that I should have been informed that my promotion wouldn't have transferred over. I was never told or I would have never signed up period. I'm going to the local store today to complain not that it will do any good. I've also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. What can I do so I don't have to pay what these crooks charged me with?

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321.

The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

I have to send someone an anonymous letter.
In order that it is franked with a location that cannot be associated to me, I would like to put my sealed, addressed and stamped letter in an envelope and send it to someone miles away from me who can then remove the letter and post it in their own locality.
If you can, please indicate your part of the UK in your answer. Thanks

I don't have much proof for the INS, yet my husband claimed to them that i frauded him in the marriage. Any good advice of what to do next ? My 2 years card has expired allready. My new US boyfriend wants to marry me so i could file again with him, but after i get divorced first, from my husband. What to do & what is my situation with the INS would be now ?
