I may be wrong but I thought that if you were asking questions you were looking for answers. Why would someone ask a question that they already know the answer to?
In saying that, a partial answer to your question is the majority of the people who participate on these boards are playing games and have absolutely no desire to have meaningful discussions.
It appears to be empowering to be rude and a smart@$$ when you can do it hiding behind a computer monitor.

You don't have to read or answer any questions u deem stupid or irrelevant .....
i would jut like to say tho i think a lot of people take this yahoo Q&A way too serious .... its meant to be light hearted fun and not life changing in anyway !
Some questions are not suitable for this imo but i just skip over them and move on to the next one !!

I suspect that many times its kids playing games, or others just vieing for attention! I have observed that when school is out more reporting goes on, as far as violations as well as more goofball questions and comments are made
