I was walking the beach yesterday, when I noticed how many children seemed not chubby, not big boned, but obese. Their faces disfigured by the fat. I was very sad for them, and very mad at the parents. I mean these kids are our future, and the parents are making them into our future healthcare crisis with early onset diabetes, heart disease, etc..It's just not right, in my opinion..What's yours?

Has Mexico no shame or morals ?Mexico's foreign secretary said today the country may take a dispute over U.S. plans to build a fence on the Mexican border to the United Nations.
Luis Ernesto Derbez told reporters in Paris, his first stop on a European tour, that a legal investigation was under way to determine whether Mexico has a case.

The Mexican government last week sent a diplomatic note to Washington criticizing the plan for 700 miles of new fencing along the border. President-elect Felipe Calderon also denounced the plan, but said it was a bilateral issue that should not be put before the international community.

Derbez said today after meeting with French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy that it was a "shame" U.S. immigration policy had been used for what he claimed was a short-term political gain in the lead-up to midterm elections in the U.S. in November.

He said he discussed the issue with Douste-Blazy, and planned to bring it up in meetings with his Spanish and Italian counterparts during visits to Madrid and Rome.
work on the case until the very last day of President Vicente Fox s term, which ends Dec. 1.
The U.S. Senate approved the border fence bill last month and President Bush has said he will sign it into law - despite last-minute pleas from the Mexican government for a veto.

"What should be constructed is a bridge in relations between the two countries," Derbez said.

Its happening on GW's watch , but evidence shows that 1994
non proliferation agreements were signed with the Clinton Administrationand the North Koreans. Then North Korea goes ahead and orders materials used to enrich uranium (and we knew it)
We did absolutely nothing about it and that was back in 94.

Lets say one conjoined twin renders the other twin unconscious and then proceeds to rob a bank. Can you send him to jail, since the other twin, to whom he is permanently joined, is completely innocent? Seems you either send an innocent man to jail or let a guilty man run free. Can anyone clear this subject up for me?

In the past centuries of U.S. immigration, immigrants have generally arrived and learned a little English, but not become fluent. The second generation has been bilingual, and the third is monolingual English.

The article below has great stats, but points out that among 2nd generation Hispanics, 92% speak English "very well" or "well."

So why all the fuss about English? The language isn't in danger, and Hispanic immigrants are learning it just like Italians and Germans did before. (better than many Germans, in fact). As an English intructor, I'm not worried at all.

Our only allies in Iraq are UK and Canada.
In NKorea, we would get South Korea, Japan (although they don't have an offensive army), UK, and Canada.

Why didn't Bush lie his way into NK?

What is the point of entering into a contract with a company when down the road they can just go to court and get it nullified? I don't understand how it's legal for a company to void a contract and then have the courts declare that a strike would be illegal. This especially bothers me when it effects the retirement pay and benefits of retirees. When I read reports about how unmotivated American workers are, I can't help but think a lot of that has to do with the fact that big business writes it's own rules, and workers are discouraged from giving all to a work force that uses and then discards them with the blessing of this goverment.

Now he is saying I owe 1/2 the cost of the repair due to community property laws. This was a rental house and we were not even living at our house at the time. The unwitnessed car was apparently one of my renter's friends car. Am I really obligated to pay for 1/2 of the fence. Secondly, the fence is a brick fence and was not made properly and was about to fall down, at the time. I'm in Georgia. Any advise would be appreciated!

They think it us fault if a crime is commited so why don't they do something instead of blaming the victim? they seem to protect the criminal what are you thoughts are this?

Quit being so stupid people, seriously, you know that most countries around the world have people that speak English for American Tourists. I come from Guatemala and this past summer I went there with some American friends of mine. We went to a Sizzler restaurant down there (yes, we have restaurants believe it or not) and the waiter's name was Julio who spoke in English to all of us and we didn't have people outside with signs saying SPEAK SPANISH OR GO HOME!

Also if you look at most Mexican products in the grocery store you will notice that everything is also translated to English. Come on people, quit trying to act like you're the victims, we live in the information age! I agree that if you are to live here you should at least dominate the language to get around, but there should be no one trying to keep us from speaking our Native Language among ourselves or HAVING SIGNS IN STORES THAT ARE NOT IN ENGLISH. That's just my point of view.
