Has Mexico no shame or morals ?Mexico's foreign secretary said today the country may take a dispute over U.S. plans to build a fence on the Mexican border to the United Nations.
Luis Ernesto Derbez told reporters in Paris, his first stop on a European tour, that a legal investigation was under way to determine whether Mexico has a case.
The Mexican government last week sent a diplomatic note to Washington criticizing the plan for 700 miles of new fencing along the border. President-elect Felipe Calderon also denounced the plan, but said it was a bilateral issue that should not be put before the international community.
Derbez said today after meeting with French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy that it was a "shame" U.S. immigration policy had been used for what he claimed was a short-term political gain in the lead-up to midterm elections in the U.S. in November.
He said he discussed the issue with Douste-Blazy, and planned to bring it up in meetings with his Spanish and Italian counterparts during visits to Madrid and Rome.
work on the case until the very last day of President Vicente Fox s term, which ends Dec. 1.
The U.S. Senate approved the border fence bill last month and President Bush has said he will sign it into law - despite last-minute pleas from the Mexican government for a veto.
"What should be constructed is a bridge in relations between the two countries," Derbez said.

I am an American (born in USA) living in Canada (also have naturalized Canadian citizenship) and I feel they can't build the fence fast enough! In fact, build one on the border with Canada, too (they are working on it). A fence would not hinder me going back and forth as I please because I do it at the legal border crossings. A fence will NOT keep people imprisoned inside the USA, they will be as free as ever to come and go between the countries legally. It is only those who choose to try to cross illegally (because they obviously have criminal records or diseases that would not allow them to cross legally or because they are trying to bring drugs or weapons across - and these are the people who should NOT be allowed to go between the countries, anyways!) whom the fence will help to keep out of the USA. Build the fence and it is not the business of anyone else in the world! If Mexico really wanted to not have the fence built, they would be doing something seriously constructive about stopping their people from crossing into the USA illegally. It is the illegal activities of their people in the USA (and those of Central Americans who also come illegally through the southern border) that have caused the necessity of this fence to be built! If Mexico were really concerned with trying to keep good relations with the USA, they would stop their people from coming illegally to the USA!

Its not just Mexico, the whole world is practiaccly against it and many white americans are as well. The US complains about every country and as soon as one country complains about the US, you are up in arms. Stop being ridiculous. Even many of the Republicans that supported it are agains it, they just didn't want to offened the isolationist like you. Why does the US complain about everyone else? What God given right does the US have over everyone else? Your just an Arrogant american that thinks the only important place on earth is the US. This world has over 200 contries buddy. The US is involved in many of their politics. If you are offended that Mexico complains about the US, tell your congressmen, send letters out to the US so we can be an isolationist country like we were before we got attacked in Pearl Harbor.
All the illegals are not poor and many of them are educated, but since you are not educated, you wouldn't know that. I have seen Engineers working as dish washers or waiters. And even if they don't have a diploma they know how to do more things and are able to get better jobs than you lazy idiots. HAHA! I know many illegals that are making $37-50/hour. Beat that @sshole. I know many that own homes too. I also see many white people on welfare. Lets face it buddy the US imports many people from around the world because your white americans can't cut it because they are too dumb or too lazy. We live in a "C" average america. Just look at our very educated president.
Mexico lets white americans enter without a problem so they don't have to sneak in. There are Millions of white americans living in Mexico that would rather their kids grow up there than here. You make it seem as if the US is trouble free and a perfect nation. Well sorry to dissapoint you, its not.

I am not surprised, It is in Mexico fiscal best interest to keep their citizens living and earning money in America and sending 75% of that money back home to Mexico and not costing Mexican economy anything.
I am a liberal, I am not racist an I respect the mexican culture and they are a great addition to America. We have to secure our borders! period!.
It does not matter the political party, It is insane to have open bprders and unlimited entrance to a country, (especially post 9/11).
We have to stiop being politically correct and quit fearing being called racist just because we think there should be limits to citizenship and border security...The Mexican Government is NOT helping us on those 2 issues. Lennon

He's leaving office in December. Let him talk to the French about their plan to deport the illegal immigrant school children, following the children to find the families. It might be educational for him.
Let him bring it to the UN. That would unite this country like nothing else, and the UN has no jurisdiction at all.

I think the Mexicans are only looking out for themselves. The in-crowd would probably be glad if half of the 120 million Mexican population went to the US.
We have a right to protect our country, and we should do it, regardless of any political nonsense from Mexico.

Crazy, ain't it? What would Mexico do if we had as stringent a set of immigration laws as they do? What would happen to their economy? And why are they whining to the Europeans? Hello!!! Ever hear of the American Revolution?
Oh, by the way Beez, I would not have a problem if Mexico errected a fence to keep me out. It is their perrogative and their country. They can let in whomever they want.

How would you react if Canada put up a fence or if Mexico did the same?
The USA definitely has the soveriegn right to buils a tower of Babel if they want inside their territory, but a wall, especially in this "modern" world of globally interconected economies is a jump backwards. It's isolationist, just like in the eve of WWII, and see what happened afterwards. You don't resolve problems by running away from them.
The message the US is sending to the world is one of seclusion in a grrowingly interconnected and integrated international community. While all the world is talking business, the US is choosing isolation. This is gonna be perceived as a clear sign that the US only wants business there where they can have an advantage and that the US only favors integration when there is something in the deal thay can take. I have to say. it doesn't help to the already damaged international opinion of the US.

If Mexico erected a fence to keep us out, nobody would care because nobody tries to sneak in to Mexico because their life here sucks. Only drug dealers and felons would try to get to Mexico to escape justice, so if they build a fence, not only would they keep their own problem in check, they would help our judicial system.
