If an economy such as the US's is bolstered by war what is the motivation for peace? I was just thinking about all of the businesses who profit from war - not just the obvious ones like Haliburton - but others like all of those businesses who contract with the military to provide k-rations or uniforms or security gear etc.

I used to work repairing computers, but my boss was running the business into the ground and none of the employees were very happy, so I started toying with the idea of starting my own company. Once that got back to the boss, he fired me, but not before forcing everyone to sign agreements saying that we wouldn't disclose company secrets, wouldn't work for or start our own rival businesses, and a bunch of other rediculous stuff. It even gave him the right to search our cars at his discretion! I refused to sign it, but he threatened to withhold my paycheck until I did. I ended up signing it just because I needed the money so badly. Then he fired me immediately afterwards, leaving me unable to work in the only field I have experience in for the next 5 years (the agreement expires 5 years after signature date). I was just wondering if any lawyers our there could let me know if this thing will hold up in court of not. I'm in Virginia, USA, by the way. I know many laws can vary with location

Short story.....mom passed away...stepdad in nursing home with advanced Alzheimers. Process server tried to serve dad at home; spoke to me instead....advised process server of dad's whereabouts and condition. Process server left; going to supervisor for direction. Get call from nursing home that dad was "served" there. All this for a credit card bill. Besides the obvious of getting an attorney....what are my options, rights, etc?
I have power of attorney, and I do look after his care/finances. I stopped paying their bills due to dad's foreseeable increase in care costs. Can they make ME pay for this? Can they take my dad to jail???? Can they put ME in jail for non-payment? Is it legal to serve someone that is not mentally compentant enough to understand what they've been served?

Stories of these responders are surfacing with more frequency today and the tragic health problems associated with the efforts immedietly following the attacks to rescue possible survivors .
Many who worked to clean up this site have become ill and or incopasitated because of the efforts they made and are struggling to get the due care and consideration of a nation who was so proud of these men and women till the price is now coming due .
IS it the bottom line that really affects america and have you noticed the number of eateries and shops in airports that have a captive audience to eat and shop now that they have to spend numerous extra hours at the airports .
Profit it seems is all america is realy about .
I am saddened by our responce to the first responders and the law suites that must be filed to obtain some messure of compensation when it should be forthcoming .

I have no problems with them playing, as other children do! However, these children are nasty! Sometimes the throw pebbles to our windows. Other times they throw rubbish to our garden!! We have told them off so many times and I think they hate us now! They don't say hello and kind of look at us strange!! I am getting feed up with this situation!! Do you know who can help us??

Where ever the United States goes there are problems. The USA seems to be the bully of the world and we are not well liked throughout the whole world. The United States is at war on the average of "one war every 10 years". ( Give or take a few years here and there ) The world has had enough of the bulling and Iraq will go down in defeat just like Vietnam and Korea. The USA is headed for abject shame. What do you think?
