Good points made by all of you. I am just fearful of the last two Democrats that we've had in office Carter & Clinton. Personally, I dont trust any government official but my mistrust grows with a Democrat.

It would help if you get your facts straight.
Feb 93 WTC Bombing: All those involved were arrested and convicted. First inkling of Al Qaeda.
Oct 93. Somalia. Demands by republicans to pull our troops out because it wasn't our fight.
Nov 95. Saudi Arabia. Clinton ordered offered assistance to Saudi Arabaia to catch the bombers.
June 96 bombing. Clinton ordered strikes on suspected terrorist camps.
Aug 98. Clinton ordered strikes on suspected terrorist camps. Mentions Al Qaeda as a threat. Republicans scoff.
Dec 98. Iraq shoots missiles at U.S. and U.K. aircraft. Moves anti-air systems into the Northern and Southern No-Fly Zones in violation of U.N. resolutions.
1999, Serbs were conducting unprovoked genocide by killing unarmed muslims.
Oct 2000, USS Cole: All those involved arrested and charged. Held and prosecuted in Yemen. All found guilty.
Clinton tried to set up a wiretapping program with oversight from the FISA court. Who declared it a threat to the American people? John Ashcroft. A man you later helped set up a wiretapping program that violated the Constitution.
You know me Scubadog, I wouldn't be saying this if I weren't sure of my facts. As much as I hated the Clinton adminstration, I would rather have them in office trying to work with in the frame work of the Constitution vice the current Administration that has tried to run around it.
I'm more scared of what Bush HASN'T done. It's been 5 years and Bin Laden is still on the loose. We're losing the war in Afghanistan. The Taliban are now back in control 1/3 of the country. We've failed to carry through on our promises to the Afghan people.
Now we're in the middle of a civil war. We've failed in Iraq. Iraq has forged closer ties to Tehran and has become a training ground for AQ.

Given the track record of the Bush Administration and the Republicans are we safer today than 2001?
In regards to the WASTE of the taxpayers money in the Lewinsky affair shows you how much the Republicans who controlled Congress at that time has concern for terror.

What u seem to be ignoring or not aware of is ANYTIME America is attacked ANYWHERE, Special Forces always responds. ALWAYS. We just dont hear about it cuz they keep that kinda stuff classified, but I happen to know for a fact -& no, i cant tell you how i know so believe it or not, its up to you-But I can say with absolute certainy thats once we know who is responsible, we always respond. Always. Dems or Repubs, it makes no difference, unless we got a bunch of pacifists running the chain of command which we havent had in like 30 years. the last was j carter.

Maybe today is not the day for such things. Perhaps for today and just for today we should all stop trying to bash each others political views and take a day to remember something. I don't know if anyone on here will take this to heart but, it's just a thought and a suggestion. So, if you feel like some things are more important, no matter which side of the political field you throw yourself on, please, just take today off from what typically happens on this site.

You forgot 1992 bombing of Marines in Kenya. Although I agree Clinton was and is scum (both of them), as well as most liberals, your argument lacks proof that democrats in general will be weak on national security. If you were to include voting records of most democrats, and the fact that most democrats backed Clinton then and still do today then you would have a strong argument. You are right though they can't be ruted with national security if anything else, just look at their voting records on things that have to do with national security.

You are an idiot. How long ago was Clinton in office? It doesnt matter what he did or didnt do. The blame for this attack falls squarely on Bush. He was in office when it happened. He was repeatedly warned it would happen.Of course I assume it was planned by our government anyway.Seriously give up the Clinton bashing you will never get anyone other than other hate filled repulicans to hate him.If Clinton could run again hed be elected again.

Instead of going after Bin Laden, Bush went after Saddam Hussein who had nothing to do with the attack. Bin Laden is still alive and still plotting attacks on the US. Bush is brainless.

Can we trust Republicans not to randomly start wars in the name of big business, uh, I mean national security. One thing I have to give to the Republicans - they do a better job at selling horse manure (wiretapping, loss of civil liberties) to erstwhile low-IQ "patriots" than Democrats do.
