Let's say after six to eight years of school, I've gotten a good education. But the down side is, I owe about 50,000 in student loans. So even before I start out, I've got what amounts to another mortgage payment every month.
So I get a job that pays about 100,000 a year. That means I fit into the whole "tax the rich" idea. And next thing you know, my take-home salary ends up being 60,000. But I'm not living like the rich -- I'm living middle class. I'm a doctor, or a professor, or a publisher. But I'm living the same as someone with a two-year degree.
Is that fair?

It's all propaganda. Millions spent on 100% acurate long range missiles , I saw them on TV during the Saddam thing, they could hit a tank or rocket launcher 100 miles away.
All complete BS wasnt it? We found long after the event that over 60% of these things missed by miles!
Why cant the Isreales take out the rocket launchers being used against them, it cant be that difficult to find where they are coming from, even if they are movable! and most are static!

Listen all democrats are not liberals I just want to make that point. Okay, here is the deal I had a couple co-workers that were democrats but liberal not like I and called me a retard and moron for voting for Bush and supporting a couple of agendas. So, I gave up and had a bumper sticker put on my car saying "Being Liberal is a mental disorder" Well, they got all hot and starting cursing and even had my car keyed. The deal is what happen to my freedom of speech and secondly I thought you all were peace and harmony love not anger and war??? Next deal most liberal are anti walmart big business but yet would have elected John Kerry who's wife is part of a "big corporation" ??? Then we have George Soros who became a US citizen made billions wants the inheritence tax to stay but, yet has millions vested outside the US to bypass this tax. SO tell me - what do you think it will take to Wake Amercans up, so that they fully understand the war on terror and what it potentially means for the future of America / democracy?
It seems that a large percentage of our population does not have a realistic understanding of what we as a nation are up against in this war. It's almost as if they think that it's just a little skirmish that won't affect their lives, when the truth is that our freedoms are under full scale attack.
Will it take another 911? Perhaps a nice little biological / radiological attack on LA would do it. Maybe Americans would wake up if they got up tomorrow morning to find that Chicago had been vaporized by a black market nuclear bomb. Or, would they?
I am pretty damn convinced that it is going to take QUITE A SHOCK to wake Americans up because we have become TOO DAMN SPOILED! So long as we have our cars, our gas to run them, our jobs and our exhalted oracles of propaganda (ie TV), then we are happy.

I was looking at and reading posts by Airforce officers and they describe there lives on base, away from families. Flying jets which is exciting but none the less dangerous also.
But how can some people be so patriotic that they put their familes after their country?
I mean I was born and raised here, did everything every kid does, but I guess it has other things that matter.
Like you cant get a cooler job than flying fighter jets, college pay is good, and a sense of acomplishment is tremendous.
To suffer so much hardship on the grounds of being patriotic is very hard to believe.

I am 18 and I can do what I want. But I respect him so much that I will not do it if he doesn't agree with it. I went down a few weeks ago to sign with the marine corps. I was getting ready to sign that paper and swear in when he called me. He begged me to come home. So I did, without signing those papers. I really regret it now, because i will have to wait until next summer to join. How can I talk him into it? He is mainly afraid that he wont see me much and I will get sent to Iraq and get killed. I know I would probably get shipped out, but that doesnt bother me. I am going to sign 0322 (i think it is) infantry-machine gunner. I want to join very badly and I would go Reserves. People in the Corps, and military. Help me out. What are some things I could point out to him and help him realize that the marines aren't stupid people with a death wish? SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY. She surmises that the Government is not going to deport illegals, since they want them here ... business wants cheap labor etc. OK, I buy that ... so the question is, WHY is government not doing anything abour border security, illegal aliens etc? I think the answer can be found in their beloved Nafta+ plan, headed up by Condi Rice and Michael Chertoff .. which in its fruition will mean free flow of PEOPLE, goods and services from Mexico to Canada ...their reasoning being why should they spend money on something that will have to be demolished in a few years time? Does anybody really believe that our Commander in Chief couldn't have our borders secured if he wanted to?? They do token deportations, mainly of criminals, talk about Nat Guards .. pay lipservice to what is needed ... but no real action!
