There is talk of a "crescent of shite nations" being created in the middle east. Since we took saddam off of the throne, the Sunni's, once dominant in Iraq, seem to be diminished.
How big is the threat of not just local civil wars in the mid-east, but multi-nation Sunni-Shite war?
This conflict has direct consequences for the U.S. The neo-conseratives( which for the most part, are the religous right republicans) are screaming for "World War III"
Its hard for me to follow their rabid rationalizations, but they seem to think that now is a perfect time to strong-arm Democracy with a capitol "D" throughout the Mideast.
They dont seem to be able to learn from the obvious mistake of democratizing, which is Iraq.

Just because a problem is on the other side of the world doesn't make it unimportant. There are people dying the mideast, and at least there are some decent people in the world trying to help. The war between Israel/Hezbollah might not directly effect us, but its destroying hundreds of innocent lives. BTW, if there wasn't turmoil in the mideast, our gas prices wouldn't keep rising, so it does effect our lives.

yeah sure depends on what you consider real issues. everyone is tired of the hate that we see around us its just that most of us are not tired enough to do something about it.

dude I was tired of it yesterday. ask a serious question, get two or three answers. but someone posts a nasty question, they get 30 people responding.
it would take a lot to build a culture of respect on here.
