A pro surfer recently got a 3 year sentence for tax evasion, to me this seems way over the top, I was thinking a lot of sentences are too long. Violent stuff needs to be punished, dangerous people need to be isolated, but tax evasion? Non violent drug offenses, simple possession--if that needs a jail term at all I think it ought to be very short. Whats your thinking?

I've seen on COPS millions of times when a police officer is pointing a gun at a suspect so that they can arrest them, but I was wondering since they do that all the time could the gun aciddently be fired. Or do you actually have to use force on the trigger to fire a bullet at someone?

I am hoping someone can help with this weird situation I am in.

I need to know what I need to do in order to be my brother's permanent legal guardian. I am in PA.

There was an incident on 7/7 and my mother was arrested for simple assault and harassment against my 15 year old brother. Due to this arrest, she is not to have any contact with him and I plan on having him live with me permanently.

I need to know what I need to do in order to be his legal guardian. I am in PA.

There is an open incident with children and youth that is currently under investigation.

Another thing is that she still has been receiving child support for him and he is not there. Does anyone know if there is anything that I can do so that money goes into an account for him?

I appreciate any guidance anyone can offer!

Thanks!!!!

dude, aren't u sick of a democracy that stops at the polls, where political fatcats, who have a 98% incumbancy rate, squabble over meager details, when there are decisions to be made-fast. to me democracy should continue into the run of the guy the american people elected, and the people should have a directer say. this republicanism of ours takes power from the people when it should be invested in the average citizen, and their councils etc.(i advocate a revolutionary socialism where it is run by the people either directly, or through workers councils meetings)liberals and conservatives don't represent the average citizen, all they care about is money, their own power, and getting reelected. this republic is an oligarchy. what do you think

Hey! Everybody knows it is the Swede's (Sweden) that are causing all the wars making all those terrible weapons and selling them to both Israel and Hezbollah to kill innocent people and calling it collateral damage, cranking them up about their religious difference secretly telling each side God gave them the same land. What the hell kind of democracy is that?

War will never solve a single issue. Isreal has been at war with various groups in the Middle East for ages now, and has peace ever existed there? NO! Does any intellgent, sound-minded person really believe Bush and his cronies will achieve peace the way they have been going about it? NO! It comes down to a simple axiom of nature which the great, late Dr. Martin Luther King once said:

Immoral means will NEVER lead to a moral end.

So the Democrats were supposed to come out with a "plan" in 2005. Then they said "2006." Now Harry Reed and Nancy Pelosi said they will have a "Unified Democratic Plan" in September.

Can you explain to me the "plan"? Is this "plan" just more rhetoric, is it rewording of Republican "plans", or is it just a bulleted list of problems in the US? What is the point of this 'Plan'???

To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.

Some people feel that racism is the real motivator here. Other countries are 10 times as strict as the US currently is on immigration laws. Why all the crying to protest even basic enforcement on immigration law? Do people think it's a witch-hunt etc?

It has become evident to me that there is an abundance of hatred, anti-semitism and racism out there and yet, we would all prefer to live in a peaceful world. My question: if you are so filled with hate are you contributing to a peaceful world or are you instigating more hatred, violence and war.

Be aware: this is the world you are leaving your children. Are you proud of what you are teaching them.

Since my cousin is in Iraq I've become involved in Operation MOM. Operation MOM is an organization thats sends packages to Allied troops wherever in th world (mainly in the Middle East). This does NOT mean we support the war or Bush, we do this for the troops and their confort and safty. It's not easy being away from family more or less also being shot at every day and worrying about roadside bombs. You can visit www.operationmom.org Please help anyway you can. These troops are fighting for you even if you don't beleive in the cause. Thank You.
