That is terrible about your son. I'd get a lawyer and sue. And you're right about the hypocricy of the word colored in the NAACP. I guess it ought to be called the NAAAAP - the N quadruple A P. National Association for the Advancement of African American People, 99.99% of which have never before, nor never will step foot on African soil. I have black friends and I call them black. I don't expect them to call me German-American, so I accept white. It is absolutely ridiculous to assign some type of guilt to the word colored or even black. Get a lawyer.

Too many ultra-sensitive people in the world. I don't see how someone can be so ultra sensitive and then call you a biatch. *shakes his head* It doesn't make sense. If someone were to call me a person not of color, I would just raise an eyebrow. I wouldn't cry and try to get the other person suspended, heck if someone even called me a dirty swede, I'd just roll my eyes, and I have been called it before, but it is not racism because I am white, right? OR is it that I just chose to not take it as negativly as possible, like unfortunatly a nice chunk of the "minority" population does.

I have an idea that you're either not telling the whole story or have fabricated part or all of it.

Being a teacher myself and having friends who are and a daughter who is I can't ever remember any teenager using the word 'colored' as a term for black people. It would be an 'old folks' phrase to them, a very un-cool, un-hip phrase to use.

If your son did use the word it is probably likely that he's heard it around you and his father, and your friends, enough to think it is a common term to use.

Labels, Labels, Labels.. I don't have anytime for label concentration. teach your children to say black if you must, but the best way is not to see color at all. I don't call any of my white friends white, they are my friends and I address them by their name. When describing my business partner in a room full of strangers I don't say he is the chinese guy over there, I say that's Lee, the guy in the blue shirt with a bottle of bud in his hand, or whatever he might be holding. Try and get your children to get away from color labels and you will find political correctness doesn't bother you. I too hate politically correct labelling, because it is just another way to restrict my freedom, and as you all know, I hate my Freedoms being toyed with.

You are a racist person and you are raising racist children, good job, you should be ashamed of yourself. Instead of teaching your child to address people by their names you choose to teach them to call others a color? Maybe when his friends meet you they can call you a fat ugly biatch, since political correctness has gone so bad. Your child will have no respect for you when it grows up, that is if it has any for you right now. It is people like you that make other white people look bad. You should crawl under a rock or go play in traffic with your other racist friends.

Ask jESSIE jACKSON what is going on here, you have to realize that the black people want it both ways and they're playing right into the goverments plan they want to be black but they want to be white they want to be gay but they want to be straight kinda like mICHEAL jACKSON,they want public assistance but they want a job, they murder their own race but want crime in their neighborhood under control ///you just have to see that its a mess and most blacks dont give a crap (some do and i feel for them)They should be thankful their ancestors sold them into slavery or they would not be here but all they do is complain // they are in for a real surprize when this country is under the control of another form of goverment and that will happen because this system cannot last much longer before it runs into the ground///

"Colored" is NOT an acceptable term for African Americans. The NAACP was founded a long time ago. Maybe they should change their name....

Tragically yeah it has gone that bad.

Good for you for standing up for your kid and pointing that out, I dunno that I would have thought that quickly myself.

Thank god ya kid didn't drop the "N" bomb, they may well have strung him up and burned him at the stake.

What happened with your kid is why I think political correctness is a crock. I just say treat people the way you want to be treated and leave it at that. People need to be a bit less sensitive.

It is a dated term, but your story needs context

- what grade is your son in? Because if this was Elementary students, they probably didnt mean it in a derogatory way - probably just a term they heard and repeated.
