How many of you out there are getting sick of all this antie Bush crap. I think Bush is doing the best job a person in his position can do. This question is the first of many.
How many of you out there get sick when you here people say people are dieing for no reason. I mean are men sign up knowing what is expected of them being a Army man myself. But how do you think they died for no reason and not for fighting for what they believed in. I think the were all proud to serve there country.

I will be 27 when and if I chose to go into the Navy. I am also a female. I have friends that both love and hate the Navy. I want to make sure that I don't a mistake either by going or not going. I want to change the direction my life is going and I seem to be leading in the direction of going. I have a great job and I like it but it doesn't challenge me and I have no room for advancement. One of the things that really upsets me is that I am a supervisor and if I make a decision based on the rules we follow at work and someone wants to go over my head, my boss always gives in and does the oppisite of our regulations just so he gets rid of the problem. I also could make a career for myself that I wouldn't have the opportunity outside of the Navy. What do you think? If you think I should go what are somethings I can do to get myself ready for the challenge ahead? Also what challenges mental and physical would you say that there are ?

There have been several, numerous times I have come home and smelled gas. The leak has to be coming from our gas stove as it is the only indoor appliance we have that uses gas. I have notified my landlord in writing and verbally numerous times to repair it, but he has made no effort at all to check into it. The gas company has said they can send a service tech out to check and fix it, but we will have to pay the bill. We feel like the leak is making us ill and are wondering what we should do? Please Help!!

the cops have been to my job,, my home, 4 times in one week. my son has been living with his dad for the last 4years in another state. he was just down visiting and we argued, he left a week prior to this event. the cops keep trying to accuse me of using narcotics, searching my purse, asking "how many meds do u take?" wich has nothing to do with finding and arresting my son. i feel they are harrassing me and have no legal grounds to invite themselves into my home and search my belongings without a warrant. please advise. thanks,

A friend of mine told me he received a letter where he lives in Denver, Colorado and it was from the child support office. He stated that the mother of his two children had requested a freeze be put on all bank accounts due to non-payment of child support, but he had the children for 1 month. He stated in the letter that it actually stated that the other parent requested the freeze, does this sound right or is he full of it?

After all, he "allowed" Pearl Harbor, and stayed out of WWII until the last moment, which allowed the Holocaust, and then started bombing Germany before Germany actually attacked us, AND dropped the A-Bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, which killed hundreds of thousands of people. Not to mention the fact that WWII killed nearly one million of our soldiers. And he also placed the Japanese-Americans into concentration camps.
Yet he's hailed as (and I agree!) as one of the best presidents in American history.
President Bush "allowed" 9/11, attacked Iraq for firing on our aircraft which was enforcing the no-fly zone, which was part of the treaty Hussein signed at the end of the Gulf War, and for him not allowing in UN inspectors, which was also a part of the treaty. This has resulted in between 39,000 and 239,000 Iraqi civilian deaths, and nearly 2500 US Military casualties.
Yet President Bush is hailed as one of the "worst" presidents in American history.
What's the difference?

I'm all for flying the US flag anytime any day. We are granted many freedoms that other countries only wish for, though i see a lot of ignorance in our part though. I see a lot of americans get mad when anyone has a flag from a different country, wether is a flag, sticker, license plate or what have you. But these same americans are the ones that would go to another country and fly the US flag expecting it to be just fine and dandy, call me ignorant but is that not hypcritical of them? Express yourself as you wish in America, but when outside of America, respect that nations will?

That the whole process from start to finish is completely non-sensical. For example, why do we still have to go to a dusty town hall or school etc., to place the flaming vote in the first place? Why, by now, can't we place our votes on our PC'S or mobile phones ? Why is the patron saint of the UK - Saint Status bloody Quo ?
And can you choose between them now - do you honestly believe any of today's politicians are actually in politics to improve the state of our lives and not just theirs ? And in the big scheme of things wasn't it a bad idea to get rid of the double-jeopardy law on one hand and on the other if you are incorrectly processed by the criminal justice system they won't 'unprocess you' i.e. criminal record, DNA, etc., because the logic is, it is easier to eliminate you if you are not guilty of something that might happen in the future - how does that fit in with 'innoncent until proven guilty' - hasn't voting now become a 'heads I win - tails you lose" scenario !!!

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
