Not just anyone can serve in the military. They require you to have documentation (the diploma) proving whether or not you have actually graduated. BUT, they do have programs that help encourage people to get their GED. They're willing to help you continue your education, so I wouldn't lie. The military is real big on integrity, lying is not one of the qualifications...but you do at least have to have a diploma or it's equivelant - a GED.

Don't know about prosecution. But an immediate discharge for sure. If you haven't signed up yet, you will probably see something like that in a declaration when you sign up about all of your statements being true, & what the penalties are. Just tell them the truth, & if you aren't qualified, meet the qualifications & then try again.

That's pretty hard to lie about. Before you go in, the military gets a copy of either your high school or college transcripts. I was in the navy and they actually pulled both before I even stepped on a plane to go to basic training.

Nothing, they don't really care. They just want bodies to move around.
If you are station in the states, try and go to school at night to get you GED. Do something for yourself, the military will not do it for you. You are just a body to move around, so seed out opportunities whenever you can and make good of your time.

They would be kicked out and I am sure would be prosecuted for lieing to them. Besides, don't they do a background check before they enroll ppl?

Yes. There's several possibilitys as the charges, but the first one that comes to mind is "enlisting under false pretenses" It's tough to imagine this happening, as the process of enlisting involves people at the M.E.P.S. station verifying your information during one's enlistment. This involves calling the school, or institution and having them send copies of your transcripts, and records.

1st off this won't happen.. because they do back ground checks on you before you leave for boot camp....

If for some reason it does pass through the cracks. . they will get you before you leave boot camp.. and they will just kick you out.. and it will be as if you never joined.. no court martial or anything,.,.,. just pack your bags and go home...

But trust me.. I can find out if you graduated high school.. you don't think that the military can.t?

The person would most likely be let go. It's not nice to lie. You will eventually be caught out.
