Politics & Government - 25 July 2006

Probably been put out there before on this forum, but here it is:
Split the country into 3 countries. One for the Kurds, one for the Sunnis, and one for the Shiites. The modern Iraq is an artificial entity created by the British anyway... why not let them govern themselves the way they would want to?

I can't see any real problems with this, but does anyone have any good points to present against it?

On November 6, 1963, two days after she turned 17, Bush (then Laura Welch) was driving her Chevrolet sedan with her classmate Judy Dyke. It was shortly after 8 p.m. on a clear night when Welch entered the intersection of State Highway 349 and Texas Farm Road 868 (now a four lane highway). Welch drove through the intersection's stop sign and collided with a Chevrolet Corvair sedan killing classmate Michael Dutton Douglas, also 17. Welch and Dyke sustained minor injuries; Douglas was later pronounced dead on arrival at Midland Memorial Hospital. Welch was not criminally charged in connection with the collision. In May 2000, a two-page police report about the car crash was made public, following a Freedom of Information Act request by journalists, due to the refusal of Midland officials to release the information. To this day, she does not talk publicly about the accident

It seems as if the only parties that matter are the Republicans and the Democrats. The Independants barely have a voice! We think we are a free society but every week they are making more and more laws to restrict us. How do Libertarians even matter?

I really aint intimidated by it. We used to being the underdogs anyway and we always come out on top. It don't matter what the majority is black people are very important to this country even if other races don't want to admit it.

Obviously it is unlikely that a draft will occur in the states, but now there is so much confrentation going on (especially now that Israel is in conflict with Lebanon). If a draft were to occur would you pick up arms or make a dash for the nearest border?

I from New York, so when I registered to vote in NY I registered as a Democrat. Moving to Virginia, I registered to vote in Alexandria but there was no political affiliate on the voter registration paperwork I filled out. My question is, how does one go about voting in the primaries in this state?
