I thought George W. Bush was "the Uniter". So why is the country so divided?

Did he only mean that he was going to unite conservatives and ultra conservatives?

If you go by approval ratings, Clinton was the biggest uniter of the century.

Clinton was not only a uniter, he created wealth in America. When Clinton took office the DJA was about 3300. When he left office, the DJA was over 11,000. After six years of Bush, the DJA is still 11,000. One must ask them self, am I really any better off than I was 6 years ago? For most people that answer would be no.

Because Democrats can't win on ideas. So they instead try to divide America up into us vs. them.

Ask yourself, what ideas did Kerry run on? I mean other than he wasn't Bush or Bush is bad, or Bush lied, or that he served in Vietnam. Can you remember, what programs or reforms he was going to make?

Democrat ideas like gay marriage, abortion on demand, higher taxes, more gov't regulation, appeasing our enemies, gov't run health care, etc. don't work that well with the majority of Americans. Democrat's idea that America is responsible for much of the evil in the world doesn't fly with the American public. Democrat's idea that everyone is a victim of some sort, in some way, and in need of gov't help or protection, doesn't work with most Americans, yet.

When's the last time the Democrat Party proposed any sort of real solution to the health care problem, or Social Security, or education, or any of the other problems America has?

In fact, they only oppose and scare people when Republican's try to propose solutions such as No Child Left Behind or Private Accounts for Social Security, or the Prescription Drug Benefit for seniors.

If you wonder why America is so divided, it's because the Democrats have done nothing since 1994 other than to try and scare Americans that Republicans will take Grandma's social security check away, or make her choose between medicine and food.

This country was united briefly after 9/11, when people suspended their distrust for a little while and were willing to give him a chance. They felt sorry for him, because he was in a difficult position. Heck! I know I did. But after that, this "United We Stand" business is only a catch-phrase for "Shut up if you don't agree with us and keep your GD beliefs to yourself." It's really not very American at all. I'm not even sure all the conservatives are united at this point, because the bungling is so widespread, it becomes increasingly tougher to back an idiot and his thoughtless cronies.
Let me add one thought though it has become a cliche by now. Clinton's sin was loving women too much and cheating on his wife, but he did not send thousands of people to their deaths and squander the goodwill of the whole world for less than nothing.
