world over marriage between first cousins is not encouraged, but in India it is very common. what are the incest laws in India? is it that only cross cousins (bro-sis' children) can marry or even parallel cousins (bro-bro children) can marry? Islam allows parallel cousins marriage. how well is marriage bet parallel cousins accepted in society? n i also read tat such marriages have a marginal increase in risk (5%-7%) for abnormalities at the birth of a child whn compared to any normal couple (3%-4%). is this true?? please throw light on the above questions... thanks a lot

Hi, I am facing 2 felonies, one ofr felonious assault and abduction. I was at school and a resident advisor of a building would not let me in and began pushing and shoving me out the door, I had been drinking that night. I put my arms around her to stop her from hitting me (thats where the abduction came from). She screamed let me go, so I did, she continued her actions and I yelled get off me and struck her in teh shoulder area, I then left, minutes later I am arrested for felonious assault because apparently she claims a broken collarbone. I am a good student in college, involved, excellent grades, I have been withdrawn from my university since then. Does anyone honestly think I will receive prison time? I can get up to 13 years, 2 to 8 for assault and 1-5 for abduction? Serious Answers Please!!

A lot of racists say that black people should go back to africa, but they also say only americans that were born in america should be here. That makes no sense since most black people are born in america, what is their logic?

We've seen hijackers given asylum, criminals given cigarettes and a KFC after throwing bricks at police from a roof, police refusing to chase a thief who stole a bike without wearing a helmet in case the thief fell, and even a prisoner attempting to sue the police for not allowing him hard-core adult material in his prison cell - all paid for by the taxpayer and brought to public attention by the Human Rights Act.

The balance of rights between victim and criminal is an issue that's been closely scrutinised in the media recently, with the above examples just a few of the stories coming to light.

I agree that irrespetctive of the crime comitted, criminals should be protected from torture and mal-treatment from authorities in this country, but should they be so looked after that it almost becomes an incentive to commit the crime?

When an individual breaks the UK law, should they not lose their automatic right to protection under this act? Or is this a step too far?

Should we, can we, demand to know what our government is doing about it? They are our elected officials, sworn to protect us. Have we become complacent? Can anybody relate to the activism of the 60's? There should be a public outcry from citizens today. I don't know about you, but I see this as a potential threat to our welfare. Bush should have been on the TV this morning addressing the nation. Or is it just me? Don't use the 'they don't want to start a panic' excuse; that would insult my intelligence. What I want from my elected officials, is a rock solid belief that America is prepared to defend us by any means necessary. This tendency to not keep America informed is what panics me. I think every voting citizen would benefit from a more open communication from our government. More on this later.

I live in Los Angeles in a rent controlled area and I'm wondering if this is a legal reason for eviction. We've had no problems with him and always complied like good tenants, so the only reason he'd be kicking us out is to let his brother move in.
