A few months ago, I got a red ear slider (about 4-5"). Then about a month ago, I inherited my sister's yellowbelly and western painted which I let live with my red ear slider (the 3 of them are about the same size). There doesn't seem to be any aggression. I noticed that my red ear slider is spending a lot of time in the water, sleeping perhaps? His head is always underwater. He hardly ever basks even though the other 2 do it all the time. The basking area is big enough of all of them. I'm housing them in a HUGE tank, water temp is what it's suppose to be, and so is the basking area temp. I've also got the needed UVB bulb. I did tons of research! I was just wondering if it's normal behavior for my RES to spend so much time under water. He eats just fine, doesn't look sick. Should I put another basking area somewhere else for him to use? Any idea?

Our albino acf is 2 years old, about the size of a small cell phone, and very active. Tonight during feeding I noticed that it appears that it has swallowed one of the glass marble decorations sold for the aquariams..flat on one side, round on the other..does anyone know if I should even attempt to get this to come back up..it seems to be logged in the lower part of the abdm. right above the left hind leg.(on the tummy side. )
any suggestions? Thank you.

I bought an under tank heater a few monoths ago and it has worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago it got so hot that when i put my hand on the glass of the aquirium it even burned me and by the time i realized that it was to late and my pythons stomach was burned about 6 or 7 inches of it. He shed the other day and now the burned area scabed back up but im still really worried. Should i put somthing on the scabs or will it heal up with time.? I took some pictures so if your a snake expert email me at chereetidwell@yahoo.com and ill send them to you. Thanks alot.

My ball python, Tessie, used to live in Virginia with my dad until this June. She moved up to live with me in New England and she has been fine until about a month and a half ago. She was getting ready to shed so she was not eating as normal but she finished sheding a month ago and every attempt to feed her has ended in a failure. She is still active and healthy and I know snakes can go a long time without food but I want to get this problem over before something does happen. The same thing happened to my friend whose Western Hognose did not eat all winter but ate again in the spring. My snake will stare at the rat as though she wants to eat it but then turns her head away. Any help would be much appreciated!

I just got an iguana from my best friend. He joined the airforce 6months ago and had to leave his iguana home with his dad and brother. He expected them to take good care of him while he was gone. unfortunately they didn't. He just got to come home for Christmas and he was very surprised to see that Frank (iguana) hadn't been feed much and his cage was a mess. He then asked me if I could take him and we of course love him so he came all the way to Georgia from Tennessee to bring him. My friend is being sent to Japan soon for 2yrs. Anyways so I've never had an iguana and we don't know what is good for him and what is not. We would like to know what kinds of food and plants are bad (we have house plants and would like to know what to keep him away from)

I am considering getting a Rainbow. I had a ball python for a little while but he was sick and died. (Not my fault, I promise) I had him for awhile and loved him. After this, I was considering upgrading and getting a little bit bigger snake (depends on where you read, I read on some places that they can only reach 5-6 feet). How big do they really get? What size aquarium do they need? What all stuff would I need to get? Please list, this would be really helpful and appreciated!

I love you guys!

I have a 5' Florida king snake, female, and a 5' Speckled California King snake, female, that were given to me. I have a 7' tank that was handmade and right now the Florida King is in it. I was wanting to put the two snakes together if that would be possible. I can't seem to find any information on the net. Anyone know?

I've had my bearded dragon 1 week now. Earlier today he pooped some urate and about a teaspoon of clear odourless liquid. He is eating fine, acting fine and has had a normal poop since. His temps are fine. He has ate live crickets and some butternut squash in the last two days. I'm not sure if this is enough info but if anyone can help me i would really appreciate it.

I got a Tetra whisper in tank filter, but it get dirty in a week, even though I replace the carbon filter. I have only a few gallons of water in the tank, ( a few inches tall) and a turtle not much larger than silver dollar. I recently took it all apart, cleaned everything, put in a new cartridge, and now a week later it is cloudy. The people at the pet store have been less than helpful. Can anyine out there reccomend anything for me?

my RES turtle has white patches on its shell...so i visited the site
http://www.austinsturtlepage.com and in the medical section the treatment for white patches was given, the treatment was:
Clean infected areas thoroughly with a strong, undiluted betadine, iodine or Nolvasan solution. Let the turtle air dry in a warm setting for about 45 minutes.
Apply a generous coating of Silvadene cream. Work into problem areas. Neosporin is also an acceptable alternative Leave the turtle dry and warm, ensuring that you do not over-heat, for 18-21 hours each day.
The next day, gently clean the affected area with a one of the previously mentioned solutions.Place them into fresh, clean water. Let them swim, drink and eat for
approximately 1 - 1 ½ hours.Repeat procedure from Step 1.This treatment performed daily or twice daily, should show you improvements within a week to 10 days. So i wanna ask that if the turtles are kept out of water for 18 hrs wont they die?and do i have to apply ....
