Our albino acf is 2 years old, about the size of a small cell phone, and very active. Tonight during feeding I noticed that it appears that it has swallowed one of the glass marble decorations sold for the aquariams..flat on one side, round on the other..does anyone know if I should even attempt to get this to come back up..it seems to be logged in the lower part of the abdm. right above the left hind leg.(on the tummy side. )
any suggestions? Thank you.

oh, here let me add ..I forgot to say..I am a vet tech, I am also a permited wildlife rehabilator here in Texas and if I knew of a vet in the area that would see my frog I would have called them. Anyone think of anything else? I got the frog out and did a palpation of sorts..had to lay it on its back on a washcloth and TRY to keep it from wriggling away..I could not feel anything at all..either side, flipped it over and re-palpated..still nothing..but then when I placed it back in the water there came the round bump again..exact same size and shape as the dang decorations. Hmmm. frustrated.

I don't think you'll be able to remove it without help. If an xray is taken, the vet can see if the marble is still in the stomach or intestinal tract. Endoscopy may be able to remove it if it's in the stomach, but I'm not sure an endoscope would fit down a frogs mouth! If it's in the intestines, it may pass and if not surgery is the only option. Pebble or marble substrate is never recommended for the bottom of tanks for this reason. Good luck!

Go to the petstore and buy some red wiggler worms or earthworms and feed it to the frog. I have a acf yahoo group and there was a woman whose frog ate a marble she had on the bottom of her tank and a couple days later it ended up throwing it up. Most of us who have acfs have bare bottom tanks because they are known for eating gravel or rocks or marbles etc....I would really like it if you would join my group so I can find out what happens with your frog and maybe other members will have more ideas on what you should do.

it fairly is rather no longer unparalleled, and rather the fault of the enterprise, whilst the dwarf frogs are blended with the clawed frogs. individually whilst my Petsmart region gets their fish shipments in, i bypass via and inspect them purely in case, and characteristic yet to locate a clawed frog. till now purchase continually examine their front palms. A 5 gallon tank isn't proper for a clawed frog and that i do evaluate fairly the bare minimum to be 10 gallons. a 10 gallon tank is rather rather small with purely a 20"x10" footprint. *regardless of ways many water adjustments you do, it does not exchange the dimensions of the tank. If that isn't a danger you need to return him or locate him a clean domicile even although you do no longer prefer to do it. in case you fairly like him then you will need him to be healthful and stay in a acceptable domicile. ~EDIT~ i'm sorry yet even although you like him, and inspite of better partials on the tank, as stated above, the minimum does not exchange. although the in many cases cautioned minimum is 10 gallons, i does not keep mine in under a customary 20 for the better area.
