I found a turtle in my back yard yesterday and was wondering if anyone can help me find out what kind of turtle it is. I live in New South Wales and the turtle was found in a big pile of dirt. It has webbed feet, and a underside.. I can not see any red markings on it..

Also does anyone know how to tell what sex the turtle is?

Thankyou.. If anyone needs pictures, please let me know..

There are no native turtles in the UK, although the Red-ear Slider is a nuisance invasive species that has colonized some places.

With no red ears, the next most likely species is its cousin- the Yellow-belly Slider.

Try the World of Turtles photo gallery at http://www.austinsturtlepage.com to see if any of those match up.

Look at this site for all the info you need- http://www.austinsturtlepage.com and they have pictures there to help you with everything.
Or the forum-- you can post pictures here of the turtle or ask any questions about it- http://www.turtleforum.com

And you should find out what kind of turtle it is right away so you can know the proper care.

And if the turtle is native in your area, which it probably is, KEEP IT IN THE WILD! IT is illegal to take turtles from their habitat.

Oh dear, lol, last time I checked New South Wales was not native to the U.K either!
If it did not have a distinctively long neck then it may be one of the Elseya genus, the "saw shelled snapper" is native to NSW and has a yellow plastron.
