Hi
Ok I asked who thinks there are too many out here asking etc.. a few minutes ago.... so far great response.

First.. I am a retired Trauma Nurse, I also have a Zoology degree, work in Wildlife rescue, conservation and manage urban waterfowl
I am obtaining a wildlife Vet degree as well.

I understand how important it is for folks who do not know to have a place to go ask and for folks who do know to take a sec and answer.. I guess I am only frustrated in what I read so much of.. and you cant answer them all and you never heaer back from most as to the outcome of what ended up happening...

My question should have been... anyone else frustrated??? I certainly do not want people not coming out asking and just leaving an animal suffer ..

No offesne was meant at all.. just looking for others who are frustrated is all!
:0)
Thanks
Wismom

I have a 5 month old iguana and unfortunately he is petrified of me. He doesn't bite lucky, but the other day when I tried to get him out he shed his tail to get away from me.

I just got my snake yesterday and I have a few questions. He is a young one, about 12 inches long and very slender. I can't seem to find the right information online.

1-I have a red heating light. Should I leave it on all the time? Should I swich it with a different light? What are the concequences and benefits either way?

2-When is the best time to handle him? After feeding, I assume, but how long should I wait? An hour? After digestion? A day?

3-How long will digestion take?

4-How often should I feed him? And what quanitity?

5-Any other information you can give me?

I have a year old female leopard gecko. She has been healthy since i got her, until the past two months or so. She has lost her appetite, and her tail is thinning. She's also not as active as she used to be. I know it isnt impaction from the substate in her habitat thats making her not want to eat, bc she has always been fed in a box outside of her home. she also has calcium powder in her habitat, and i dont believe her calcium is low either. she just hasnt eaten. i tried changing her diat, but she shows no interest in her food at all. could it be breeding season for her? if so, what do i do? i've heard that a female can become very sick if they dont lay eggs bc they will build up too much calcium. i'm really worried about her. what could it be? and what should i do? i really appreciate any help!

I introduced a new dragon a little younger than the one we had and while they haven't fought the younger has found a spot in a tree and will not come down until I take her down then she goes right back and she has not eaten since monday. Should I seperate them or just give them more time, I am getting worried.

I have a red-eared slider (turtle). He's in an aqarium that gives him plenty of room to swim. He's alone, except for the occassional guppies, which he loves to eat. My question, he gets so excited when my wife or I approach the tank to feed him. He swims frantically and will follow our head movements back and forth along the legnth of the tank. I was wondering if he needs a companion. I notice many times he will stare into the glass at the edge of the tank. He sees a reflection of himself. I didn't realize turtles had such personality, etc. I have a book, but it says nothing about companionship. Can anyone help me out on this. Any other info in the red-eared slider would also be most appreciated. My book says they even go through periods of depression...

A few days ago i bought a fire belly newt. He didnt want to eat since he was still getting used to his new habitat. Finally he ate for the first time today, but i will leave tomorow and will not return until Monday, so i will be gone for about 4 days. This week, I will leave some of the frozen blood worms in the water for him to eat whenever he gets hungry. Is this ok ? I dont want to do this since this gets the water dirty faster, but its the only thing i can think of. Ive tried putting newt pellets for him but he doesnt eat them and they end of sinking to the bottom. I dont want to buy crickets and leave them in there because he is to small to eat crickets and the cricket would probably drown since there is mostly water. What else can i leave in the water for him to eat when i am gone since i am usually gone every week ? Also how can i tell if its a male or female ? his tail is semi pointy.

How quicky do they grow. I have three and they are sharing a 10 gallon aquarium, but they are only slightly bigger then a quarter. I bought them 3 months ago and was wondering how quick they grow and the ideal size aquarium for all three for when they get bigger? I was told they adapt to their environment, and if I kept them in something small they would stay small, if kept in some thing large they would get larger, but found out that's a lie, so I want to make sure I'm prepared for when they get older.

I really want a pet reptile, I’ve been looking at all sorts of Geckos and Iguanas and they seem to vary between downright vicious to quite friendly.
I would like to know that is the friendliest reptile I can choose as a pet.

One time, at the doctor's office, there was this aquarium with three turtles, one of them small. That turtle tried to get on top of one turtle, but couldn't, and it got on top of the other turtle successfully, but it fell when the big turtle was swimming. Does this mean the small turtle wants to mate the big turtles, which are probably that turtle's parents? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! THANX!!!!
