That is good you cleaned him and the cage. The tail will grow back with in time, but it won't be as long or as nice.. An Iguana can lose it's tail for several reasons. One if he is picked up or grabbed by the tail, and also if he isn't getting the proper vitamins and calcium. I recommend the Rep-Cal vitamin d3 and calcium ( container has pink label). Put it in the food 2 to 3x a week until he gets older.
hope this helps.

it will grow back but just not as long as it was before it lost the small part. there is nothing you can do but just make sure that it won't get infected at the end. just keep giving him a bath to keep him clean and keep his tank clean as well. the cleaner you keep him the faster the tail will be. i own iguanas as well and most of mine did the same thing and when it happens there is nothing you can do to make it grow back at full length. i just kept them very clean and it did grow back some. don't worry about him just make sure that it does not get infgected and have fun with him.

Did you stop the bleeding? If not, use a styptic powder to stop it. If you don't have any, try cornstarch. Rinse with betadine after the bleeding has clotted - do this gently as to not rinse the clot. Apply an antibiotic ointment. Keep it clean and apply the ointment BID. If the tail turns black and soggy or black and flaky, see a vet. If your not sure, he should go to the vet anyway.
good luck.

I owned an iguana as quickly as in the previous. i does no longer advise letting it roam unfastened. they might desire to have a good style of warmth and basking aspects. you does no longer be able to get your place to the right temperature. and that they might truthfully be harm by ability of the different animals. or you are able to desire to no longer see it and step on it on accident. there are multiple issues that would desire to pass incorrect. and that they are no longer this style of puppy which you would be able to potty prepare or something so it is going to easily potty the place ever it looks like it. I strongly advise which you maintain it in a tank. or you are able to build your very own cage for it. Use %pipe and cord mesh. That way it could climb and characteristic a good style of room to roam around in. purely ensure you provide it one cool edge and one heat and a shelf to bask on.

Just keep it clean and keep an eye on it. You can use any sort of topical antibiotic on it (neosporin etc... just not the stuff with pain reliever in it)
