what is the shortest possible time that an insect can eat into substances like platinum? Is there a pirahna of insects that can eat into substances at super fast speed?

As far as I know, no insect can eat metal. What proof do you have that an insect damaged the metal & not some acid or alkalai? This sounds more like a chemical reaction rather than a biological occurance.

Ants can demolish anything within a matter of minutes, Red Fire Ants etc. Worms and Maggots can also eat flesh quickly as they where sometimes used in the war to eat rotting flesh from the wounded soldiers.
