I need to know what the regulations are about administering vaccinations to your pets. Why can I purchase them and have people tell me that they aren't valid if I administer them? Doesn't make sense when I purchase the same brand as my vet. Anyone know of a site where I can obtain this info for my records??

Does anyone have any farmer tricks for medical issues or worming or anything else other than bringing a pet to the vet. We have dogs, cats, and horses and would like to make a list of alternative aids such as baby asprin for hurts in the dogs or ivomec as a wormer and stuff like that. All advice welcome.

I think I just stepped on my rabbit's tail or something.I stood up to look for my rabbit and when I looked down, I saw my rabbit's tail in one piece seperate from the rabbit. I then saw her run off very painfully. The tail is neatly ripped off with a small bloody vein tailing off it. My rabbits bottom now has a very small (1cm) area of minimal bleeding The blood doesn't seem to be pouring out or anything. I don't know if it came off itself or I stepped on it. If I did, how could it come off so quickly and so neatly, if it wasn't me, then is it normal for a rabbit's tail to fall off? I am so frightened and sorry!

I looked through petfiner, and there is this rabbit, he is so sad, and it said that the family who had him, relocated, and dropped him off at an animal shelter, his house, and all his toys! And he sits there, as a child who parents abandoned in some orphanage, and looks so sad, as if he understands that they dumped him. And all his toys near him!
Why do they get them at all at first?

I live in a small second-story apartment/flat. Ferret owners, tell me if it's a horrible idea to let my little friend have rein of my flat. (I would give her a small doggy bed and litter bin to use, of course.)

soooo OMG! i guess its been about 2 weeks since i cleaned out the box in my bunnies hutch. it has been raining alot here and my bunnies are spending alot of time in the box. they are wet with pee! they smell SOOOOOO bad and i really love to snuggle them, but not when they're soaking wet with..... PEE! so i really need to give them a bath. can i do this? what percautions should i take and stuff and what can happen? please answer quick, i love holding my bun buns!

Are you the kind that believes that "anything is better than dead", or would you opt for euthanasia when an animal cannot be found a "good" or better home?? Is living on a chain getting meals whenever people remember and never getting medical care better than euthanazing that dog??
It is hard in rescue to deal with situations like this, but I am tired of prganizations re-homing animals to crappy homes, just to avoid putting them down.
What do other people think???

if you watch tv or movies or something. youd say that pigs eat human food left overs and all that edible food trash or something. what do pigs eat exactly though? like daily? and what kind of food treats would you feed them? what happens if they eat dog food? what can they chew on? ive searched yahoo answers for the answer, but it seems as that nobody has asked this question.

Heard digging above me. Im hearing it constantly. I open the attic door and i hear little squeeky noises from animals. Sounds like babies squeeking almost. Do squirrels make those noises? Also, before i thought i heard a heavier animal up there and when i was moving blankets i thought i heard a growl. I originally thought it was a raccoon now i dont know, never heard the squeeky noises and a lot of squirrels hang around the house. They jump from the tree to the house. What do you think it could be? Whatever is up there has been there for months and right now its snowing lightly.

my rabbit is incredibly aggresive. recently she jumped out her hutch(when the lid was open....it was really scary as well because she jumped incredibly high). as much as we love her, she has destroyed the garden (burrowing, eating all the plants etc). she's 6 months old and I've been told to get a run for her, but it seems so cruel because they are so tiny. Also, i've heard the reason why she's agressive us because of her age and is at that puberty stage. if i get her neutered will she destroy less, and be far less agresive than she is now??

our female rabbit had just given birth to her first litter of 2 about 12-13 hours ago and we are rather worried about her. we came downstairs about 15 mins ago to find that she had knocked the top of the cage off. we let her out of the cage and she started to jump up to high places - dangerous places. she has been resting though. the baies are fine, they are both snuggled together in their mothers fur in the cage but she won't go in. she is also ripping it out but shes also looking around. we have been thinking, could she be lonely? she has had a male in with her ever since march when we got them - we didn't know the male was male, we aquired females and yes, they were sexed twice by the pet shop when they were small. we took the male out around 7AM today when we heard the female making noises and it was around 8 - 10AM when she gave birth. should we let her meet the male? what should we do?!? please give advice and help A.S.A.P. thankyou

Humane Society, In Defense of Animals, SPCA, WSPA, PETA? Which one is most effective in improving welfare of animals generally? Everyone has told me that I should donate to "my local shelter" instead. The problem is that my local shelter only has the capability of working to help cats,dogs, gerbils, rodents, etc. I need to know which large organization will best use my $$ for the general protection of all animals. I'd like to catch these persons and do the same to them. Our law enforcement and animal shelters need help in finding this perpatrator. If anyone hears of something or knows something, Please get in touch with the Lacawanna Co., PA police barrocks. We need to put a stop to this asap. The mother and pups was the first ones I heard of now there are more and more of them. Cats also. How could anyone be so cruel?

It's getting near to dusk which is meant to be the right time to release hedgehogs back into the wild.

I was curious as to it's weight, which has come out at around 12 ounces or around 350g. I looked it up and this may be too low for it. What should I do?

my fiance had two dogs, a ferret, fish, Hermit crabs & a hamster when he moved in with me. I already had a dog, 2 cats, and a bird. The bird has since passed away.
We live in a town house with a decent size yard. & two of our dogs are small ones.

Do you think we have too many pets? My mom hates it and tell me to get rid of most of them.

I have 2 New Zealand Red rabbits about 10 months old, they are both brothers and live together in a hutch but go out in a run every day they eat Supa rabbit food and get veg daily. when I let them out this morning 1 of them seem unable to move its back legs. it is still eating and drinking and front legs are okay. Any ideas.
