I need to know what the regulations are about administering vaccinations to your pets. Why can I purchase them and have people tell me that they aren't valid if I administer them? Doesn't make sense when I purchase the same brand as my vet. Anyone know of a site where I can obtain this info for my records??

Only rabies HAS to be administered by a vets office.

All the others are not required by law and you can do it yourself for the benefit of you and your pet.

You can buy the Distemper combo at many feed stores. Most places like boarding kennels and obedience classes and vets will not accept them as proof of vaccine because they were not given by a vet. At these stores, you are usually counting on high school employees or other uneducated people to handle the vaccines correctly. Who knows if they do. Who knows if UPS comes and the product site out for HOURS???? It is not a law that they accept your vaccines as proof. Some may, some may not.
You can aslo buy them through Foster and Smith and many other catalogs. The ones at the feed stores are often a 7 in 1 vaccine and no one needs that. That is too much. A 4 in 1 or at the most a 5 in 1 is all you need.
Rabies is illegal to be given at home. Even if you could, you would not have a valid certificate!

Most Vet's will no recognize vaccines administered by owners due to the fact that they do not know if the vaccines were handled or administered properly....simple as that.
