I bought my gelding in the spring and he came shod. When my farrier came for the first time he suggested that I try him barefoot, since it's the "natural way" so I did and he's been barefoot since then. It's been 5 months since he was first barefoot and you can tell he's always a little sore. I decided to put shoes on him as soon as my farrier comes out. I know horses feet can get sore when you take their shoes off but can they get sore from putting them back on?? we're going to a paperchase very soon and i don't want him to be sore for that.

Many towns only require that dogs be licensed and vaccinated against rabies. But more and more towns are licensing cats, too. In fact, more people keep cats as pets than dogs. What do you think?

I took my dog to the vet today and they found a couple of fleas, I have a small dog so they gave me flea medication for dogs between 11kg and 25kg. The problem is i have a cat also but she does not have any fleas, So when I give my dog this medication I'm afraid there are going to jump off my dog and onto my cat so is it safe to give my cat a very small dosage of this medication to help prevent fleas?
the medication is "Advantage 55"

Sometime ago, I read an article about lethal injections and how prisoners suffer horribly before dying. Their suffering is not visible.

Prior to the programme, I put 2 of my mothers cats to sleep because of illness. I'm having this agonizing thought that the same chemicals are used to put animals to sleep. It's driving me nuts and I end up crying every time I think about the possibility.

Does anyone know if the animals die peacefully or do they suffer?

ok so i'm really scared..i brought a rabbit about a month ago, i asked a guy at the pet shop if it was a male or female, he said he 'thought' it was a female.. (i named her clover) So today i thought i would get another one, i made sure that it was a female and the lady that checked was certain it was a female. I took her home and my rabbit from before (clover) started chasing the other one and i swear they were mating. I am so confused..i don't want my rabbits to start breeding. I am pretty sure they are both females! Help Please!

so i got this bunny about 2 months ago. and he came back from ohio with a few fleas. and now i'm getting flea bitten every time i go to feed my bunny or be around him. he's protected and so is my cat. but i'm not and i really want to get them out of the house. any ideas on killing fleas? we're using this stuff that's for moths and caterpillars. it's pretty potent stuff and it works surprisingly well on fleas. but it just isn't getting them all and i'm bitten everywhere.

Vets report more disease and much greater level of dental decay in pets over the last 20 years.

This coincides with the introduction of the widespread use of commercial dry and canned food.

I understand some toxic metals eg lead are found in pet food.

I overheard our neighbor's son say something about "prairie-dogging" on the bus, is that some form of animal abuse?

I don't want to notify authorities if it isn't, but as an animal lover I want to intervene if they're hurting animals.

Prairie dogs are SUCH cute creatures!

his food is everywhere and gets mixed in with his hay and pee.

I had a china proppa rabbit bowl and he smashed it.

someone said to get a plastic bowl and nail it down into his hutch so I did,... he only went and ripped the bowl off the floor and now the nails are gone

Is it true that all of our pet animals think that we're their parents?

When we raise a baby animal as a pet, does it spend the rest of it's life in the mindstate of a juvenile... We feed it, look after it & care for it's every need. It will never need to fend for itself.

Will it never mature into an adult (in mind), and only it's body grow old?
