I overheard our neighbor's son say something about "prairie-dogging" on the bus, is that some form of animal abuse?

I don't want to notify authorities if it isn't, but as an animal lover I want to intervene if they're hurting animals.

Prairie dogs are SUCH cute creatures!

no its not animal abuse.. there is a movie (cant think of the name of it offhand) where a family was on a vacation/ road trip.. the dad was wanting to make good time to get to their destination, and the kid was fussing about needing to use the restroom.

Kimberly Pear: Dad, I'm prairie dogging back here!
Randy Pear: Well, what the hell does that mean?
Jason Pear: You know, like when a prairie dog sticks his head in and out of the ground.
Randy Pear: Oh.
[Five seconds later]
Randy Pear: Ohh, god, I do not wanna picture that!

Its not illegal to shoot prairie dogs. We don't call it prairie dogging here to do that, but thats what I'm suspencting your friends are talking about.

They breed like rats, overrun complete pastures and even destroy the grass so they, themselves, can't survive. If we didn't shoot them, they would die of starvation alone, with the drought we are in.

They usually shoot them, some ranchers use poison etc.

Try doing a search on it instead of just asking about it. You'll probably find that it's not what you think.

Sounds like some sort of drug abuse. Like licking toads. I'd talk to his parents about the possibility of drug use.
