I am soon going to buy a horse and i no when i go out to buy a horse a vet should be with me ....but right now everyione in my city are cat and dog people..so no one knows but when my mom buys a horse for me we will be at a new home that is zoned for horses...so should i worry about the vet after i moved in the house..cuz i might not have a problem at all becuase my neighbors might no... or should i worry about finding a god vet now even if im not buying a horse yet?

do i look in the yellow pages?

I'd start checking now. Look at the vets in the phone book to see which are on the edges of town, then call and ask if they handle livestock.

You can also check for horse clubs in your area and ask them which vet they use or if they have any recomendations for you.

You can look in the yellow pages, you can contact your extension office, contact your state horse council or a riding stable near where you'll live.
There are fewer and fewer horse and large animal vets. Best of luck in finding one.

Call a vet's office and ask. They should know the rural vets who prefer large animal practice.
