a very long time ago i had an old english sheep dog/begium shepard mix and he was just the friendliest dog i had ever known. and smart too.
we would take walks together several times a day. i think the best part was we loved each other. i had him for 10 yrs then he became full of tumors and his quality of life was no longer comfortable or happy like it had been. i still miss him.
now i have a little maltese dog and he is my best buddy and we go for walks and play fetch, he is my little man :o)

The dog I had when I was a late teen/early 20s. His name was Snoopy (yeah, I know, not real original), and he was 1/2 Dachshund, 1/4 Chihuahua and 1/4 Rat Terrier. He was about the smartest dog I've ever known. He sneezed when told; spoke, whispered, cried and sang - all in addition to the "basic" pet tricks. He protected me with all he had in him.
Once, a lady said, "What an ugly dog!" and he went after her! He never bit anyone, but he sure scared a few.

My black labrador, Prince. He was with us for over 15 years and brought us a lot of joy. Due to illness we had to have him put to sleep. It was like losing a family member or very close friend. He was really intelligent and seemed to always be there when any of my family was either sick or out of sorts. His absence has left a void in our lives. I'm sure my sentiment is the same as most anyone who shared there lives with a truly special pet. His was truly unrequitted love and companionship!

I love my dog and my guinea pig. I could never decide between the two. They're my best friends. I did have fish before, but I got them when I was very young and I lost interest after a while since they didn't do anything for me. I also had a hamster when I was seven, but I was too young to really appreciate it and take care of it properly. But now I have Judge and Brownie, and I love them to death.

Oh that is a hard one, I have owned many many pets and do not think I could choose just one. Though the dog we rescued for my daughters 3rd christmas would definitely make the list. He is awesome and has an excellent temperment.

A baby Grey Squirrel I had for about 3 months he was the best ever, he would ride around on my shoulder and run up and down my arms, he knew his name (Rock-it) and would jump from a table to my arm/hand when I called him. He would also jump from a tree to my arm while outside, he had no desire to be a wild squirrel! He was very easy to care for and not very messy at all, very clean compared to a my guinea pigs I had once.

A parakeet named Tweet. He could do a variety of tricks and sneezed when someone walked into the room.
