Today it was hot durning the day and i went out to the barn and saw that dasey had foam comming out of her mouth so i gave her some food and water and checked if she was over heated. I was wondering if i need to worry about this or if it is normal. She does have a calf and is about 4 if that info is needed.

If I took my car to garage with a problem and the mechanics fixed the car, but after 2 days or so the same problem arose, they would fix it for free.
If your pet receives treatment that doesn't work, you pay again and again and again.
Any fool can make a wrong diagnosis over and over,
If that happened in my job I'd be fired, Vets just keep on getting paid for it !
What's that all about then ?

i had a little ferret, her name was Sassy, and like 3 days ago, i found Sassy, in her cage, dead. We have been having a flea problem since our neighbors fumagated their house. And we have been trying to get it under control frugally seeing that we are not financially able to treat all 8 of our animals at the time. I washed my two ferrets (Sassy and Sammy) with some ferret flea and tick shampoo. Which is nothing unusual, i kno that u ain't supposed to wash them too often, and i had only already washed Sassy once this year. (i usually wash them like 2x a year). So i scrubbed them all up with the shampoo, and i thought that they would be ok. But they weren't. The fleas had already started to take over my bedroom (where my ferrets are housed), and all i had to do was wait until payday to get them some advantage. Well, Sassy didn't make it til payday. I found her Mon morning in her cage, curled up, dead. And i was wondering, can fleas kill a ferret? And if so, how come they only killd her??

I want to give my rabbit more space to run about as her run isnt much longer than her hutch (so she might as well be stuck in her hutch 24/7 which i think is a bit unkind) and im worried that if i leave her in the garden which is walled and safe for her so she cant escape that any cats in the area might try to attack her, i would be in the house but i cant see her from where we sit! Anyone else leave their rabbits out for a few hours in the evenings?

I was given a baby squirrel 2 weeks old...So being an animal lover, hand reared the little thing...It has become this beautiful tame (unfortunately) 8 week old now, and at the end of this month it is going to be rehabilitated to be released into the wild by March next year. The woman who is doing it has a male squirrel waiting for her, so I am very pleased, and don't believe in keeping a wild animal. I have done my bit, but wht is worrying me, is can an animal go wild again, after it has become so tame, and even plays with my chihuahua. I try not to let this happen, but it has, please put my mind at ease.....

There was a baby bunny in my front yard this morning. It is not a wild bunny so we caught it and I have in in my kitty cage. It's been a lot of years since I've had a bunny, is there anything I need to know. Like some shavings are bad for some animals and what is the best food? I was also wondering, I can't remember if bunnies need one of those water bottles or will they drink from a bowl? Thanks for any advice. God bless!!

My first pet was a rat they make great pets. They are social, intelligent, friendly and clean. I got him in the 4th grade(I was only 7 since I skipped pre-school). It lived in my room and came when called. I got him from my 3rd grade teacher at 8 weeks old. When summer was out I brought him too school every day with out any body noticing except my classmates. I had plenty to play with him because whenever our teacher taught the class about math and English I got to play because I was already at 7th grade level. He played with everyone of my classmates. We taught him some tricks to,one of the most important tricks was too hide he would run as fast as he could and bury himself into items like close ect. Just in case our teacher saw him running I also brought a stuffed rat that looked a lot like him and throw it near where the teacher was looking. The funny thing is that it actually worked. So what was your first pet and do you have any stories.

I do not believe in spaying & neutering because i think it is genital mutilation that was a form of torture used in concentration camps and slavery. I acknowledge the benefits of spaying and neutering: 1)prevention of abandoned offspring who may suffer abuse and may have to be euthanized, 2)the behavourial benefits and 3)health benefits. However, I think 1) can be solved by animal birth control, this may not exist but scientists can invent it, i know there is anti-mating spray that can be helpful but animal birth control is definately possible, people can keep animals of the same sex alone or keep animals of different sexes separately (if they insist of having a male and female) as a preventative measure as well. The behavourial benefits are really a benefit for us humans and i believe we can live without it, after all i do. Spaying and neutering can prevent cancer in animals, but i guess that may also work for humans, why don't we all spay & neuter ourselves? Spaying and neutering to prevent diseases & to prolong an animal's life is against nature but it's acceptable as treatment or if the animal has a genetic mutation that may cause a disease. In conclusion, i think animal activists who support spaying and neutering are hypocritical and superficial. People should stop taking the easy way out by spaying and neutering and should take more responsibiltiy to provide tlc for their loveable pets. I know the eradication of spaying and neutering may not be easy but it can be implemented, step by step, how can you resist your adorable pet?

First off, I'm currently studying and on my way to being a veterinarian, but I'm not so sure I should be one. I wouldn't mind being a vet and I'm good at memorizing the parts of the body, bones in the body, cell structure, muscle placement and stuff like that. Its not the blood that bothers me because I watch surgery on TV. There's only one thing that does bother me and its quite contradictory to my previous statements yet its very different. I can't stand to see injuries if caused by an accident such as a bone protrusion from jumping off a wall or other such action and injuries. A scrape, cut, or a fracture with no bone protrusion I can handle. I don't understand why. So with that information comes my first question: Do you understand why this is? Secondly, if being a veterinarian is not what I should do, since I want to stay in the realm of pets, I had an idea of owning a pet store. I thought I could sell pets and maybe have a small grooming center in the back. My second question: Is it difficult to keep a pet store open, and could I sell dogs that I breed from my own dogs at home?
