So why get an animal if you can't afford it.
I dont understand this mentality of low income ppl that ppl owe you everything. So spay, neuter my dog because im poor. THats called poor planning. Actually budget, see if you can afford a dog and stop whining about everyone else and how they owe you.

ok if you cannot afford to have your pet altered, you cannot afford a pet! Its something you certainly could have saved up for.. $100 or so really isnt that much.. considering its a one-time thing, and it can save so many problems in the future.
cancer treatments cost more than spay/neuter
Pregnancy care costs money, a cecarian can easliy cost $1000-2000, without complications.
Puppies and kittens cost money to take care of them.
intact females are prone to serious uterine infections, which are fatal if untreated.. treatment is to spay and put on antibiotics. Now that will cost more than a normal spay, because it will end up being an emergency surgury, plus all the extra meds!
There are free and low cost programs available, but they still need the funding to come from somewhere! If they made it free/cheap for everyone, the vets would soon be broke.

I gotta agree with the first answer.
Having a pet is a huge responsibility and part of that responsibility is setting aside 100 bucks to get your pet spayed or neutered. Really $100 is not that much (and I am a student and singer... I should be living in a box :) you could save money by giving up one thing. like coffee at the coffee shop for 3 months or smokes, or going to the movies or eating out... all these are options.
that said, here's a site that can help you
http://www.lovethatcat.com/spayneuter.html
Theres a list of very low cost and free spay/neuter vets in each state.
Besides, think about how much more it will cost to take care of a bunch of hungry kittens.

Spay neuter techniques are quite often subsidized by way of Kennel golf equipment and animal welfare organizations now not govt investment. Government investment is available in whilst the rate of destroying an animal is within the photograph. The animal shelters which are run by way of the nearby cities and towns foot this invoice --so spay and neuter is a well factor . Even Vets donate to the intent of Spay neuter.

The cost goes to pay for things.
The vet who takes between 20 minutes and 40 minutes to spay/neuter is NOT making minimum wage. This is internal surgery that can have complications, too, on the spaying.
The anestesiologist/tech who has to be there to monitor the heart and breathing during this has to be paid.
The anesthesia costs, the scalpels, operating cloths, smocks, gauze, tubes, hoses, needle, thread, etc. all has a cost.
The machine that monitors the heart and does the breathing costs.
Pre-op check of the animal takes time, plus the kennel cost for them staying in the cage till time for the operation.
Post-op care to make sure there's no complications with coming out of the anesthetic. Kennel time costs for that also, till the owner can do a pickup.
Any pain killer given will be having a cost. Nothing is for free.

It would be nice except, your veterinarian has to go to university just like a human doctor. He has to pay for his equipment and staff like a human doctor. An on and on. How much would a humans doctor charge to do something similar. Then again you could take your pet to Whats his name down the street who only thinks he is a doctor and doesn't use pain killer. But I would rather go to a real vet.
The most inexpensive way of all is to keep your pet inside, but even that is difficult. Many veterinarians are helpful and will work out a payment plan.
Another thing, your doctor only needs to know one kind of animal.. Veterinarians need to know everything from horses to pet hamsters.

If you do more research in your area I bet you can find it cheaper than that. Also $100. is cheap compared medical issues related to not having a pet spayed or neutered.

We know what we get into before we get into it...no? It costs to have pets..they are part of a family and also have basic needs.
It's like family planning...it costs to have a baby..two babies...and so on...there are basic needs that need to be met.... Is it fair to expect society to pick up the costs?
Enjoy the family life with the kids and pets, its costly but so rewarding!

You can find places to spay or neuter your pet for cheaper.
You do realize this is a surgery, that requires anesthesia right?
How cheap do you expect surgery to be?
