If a little yorkie bit somebody he would be put down. Why not a cat that can bite just as hard as a small dog. Or if a cat purposely scratched somebody. I'm sensing dog racism lol

My ferret does not seem his happy self lately. I have a vet appointment for him. Although i really do not thing he is sick. I give him amble time to play. Originally i let him play with my cats as playmates. I felt that he was becoming depressed or lonely though so i got him another ferret friend. He doesn't evenbother with the new ferret. Who is very playful. Could this just be my ferrets personaility? he used to play. what can i do to make him happier??

Is it possible to have a weird connection with animals? Dogs seem to understand what I say. I am like the animal whisperer. A turtle was in a glass cage banging his head to the corner. Everyone was trying to make him stop. I walked over there and moved my finger from the corner to the middle of the cage. I said simply "No, your not gonna escape!" he lifted his head and walked away. Am I a freak? Help! Am I not normal?

When our dog is outside, she is in a fence (and no, she can't get out), or on a leash, held by me. She is at the age now, where it is possible for her to get pregnant. Many dogs in this neighborhood are just allowed to roam around freely, and sometimes can be threatening to my kids. I am worried that one of these dogs will get in to where my dog (Princess) is, and get her pregnant. We can only afford the dog we have, and her care can be expensive. If she gets pregnant, even if we give away or sell the puppies, we will have to get them shots and keep them around until they are weaned. Would the neighbor who's dog got Princess pregnant be obligated to pay the vet bills (shots and such) for the puppies? Would he be entitled to half the pups? (she is purebred akc black lab)

There is a cat and her 6 kittens in my apartment complex. My roommates and I are happy to take responsibility for them and find them better homes, but we cannot catch the babies. (The mother is very trusting of us.) They are old enough to leave their mother, but have not done so yet. We want to take them in as a group.

If we call Animal Control for help, can we take responsibility, or do they have to take the animals to the pound? Also, is there a fee for it if we do take them in from Control?

My kids have this rabbit that we got about a month ago. Here lately she has been chewing on just about anything she can get her teeth on. She is litter box trained so we let her have run of the house and for the past several days she is chewing on everything. Last night I left a book I was reading on the bed and when I went to another room for a few minutes I came back and half the cover was chewed off--and swallowed. I have no idea why she is doing this. She has salt and mineral blocks in her cage along with wood chew toys and her feed. So if you have heard of this or if you have had this happen any help would be greatly appreciated.....

I'm getting cows and I plan to train them as calves. I'll do halter lessons and try to do longe line lessons. Is it possible to ride cows? Do they like it? I was thinking of going bareback, but wouldn't their extremely boney backs hurt? I have three horse saddles, one little kid saddle and the others are much bigger. If I just use a regular saddle pad would it hurt their backs? Should I layer them? I obviously won't use a bit, probably just a halter and spare reins. I realize that cows are harder to train than horses and probably don't respond as well. I'll try my best!! Help is appreciated!

I just got some ferrets that someone was giving away because they were moving & couldn't keep them. I went 2 pick them up, put them in the van with their penthouse cage. I saw that they were alive & pretty, said thanks exchanged info & left. When I got home & took them out they smelled horrible (even more than any ferret or the ferret I currently owned) like they had not had a bath. After checking them they were filled with flees, I bathed them dissinfected their cage & waged all their beddings. I can't believe someone would treat them that way. Their hair was matted & they were scratching like crazy even had bald patches. Well, I plan on taking them to the vet 2morrow 4 a check-up but I was wondering..my ferret is young, I don't know how old these are. Is there some way 2 tell. Their teeth are pretty long longer than any other 1-3 yr old ferrets I've had. It's the saddest thing, they fell asleep right after their bath. Just wonderin the age 2 know care & handling better etc. Thanks :)
