If a little yorkie bit somebody he would be put down. Why not a cat that can bite just as hard as a small dog. Or if a cat purposely scratched somebody. I'm sensing dog racism lol

I would hope that neither a cat nor a dog (vaccinated) would be put down for minorly injuring someone, as long as they were provoked or it was an isolated occurrence.

I have dogs and cats both. A cat will never run up to you and bite you, a dog will protect his or her territory and will bite anyone who trespasses. I have never heard of a Yorkie being put down for biting,
a ridiculous notion, they only time this could happen, if the dog does not have rabies shots. In most places there is a leash ordinance, if a owner follows the rules the pet will be safe. Dog Racism, hope you are kidding.

Most parts of the country even if a larger dog bites someone it is not put down automatically. The only exception I've seen to that is in areas with a high incidence of rabies. Even those areas, if your dog is vaccinated you usually just have to quarantine it for 10-30 days. However, during a case of severe rabies outbreak, (which I've only seen once in Florida) they may mandate all unvaccinated dogs AND cats be euthanized in case of a bite. That way the head can be sawed off and biopsied. If your cat bites someone, a rabies quarantine may well be the legal procedure.

Most of the time the owner opts to have the dog or even cat put down because they don't wish to deal with legal fees. Though, most of the time if someone wants to sue you because your pet bit, they will sue whether or not your had the biting pet euthanized.

Cats are smaller and their bites are a lot worse. A large dog can kill someone. A small dog can cause a lot bigger wound then a cat can. Cats are also not as domesticated as dogs are. Dogs also spread more diseases then cats do.

Killing a cat does not propose that the dogs is any lots extra in all probability to kill or injury someone. some dogs have a severe prey force. those dogs are very in all probability to kill small animals, jointly with squirrels, rabbits, and cats. even with the undeniable fact that, they could be alright-behaved around even youthful babies. My wager, based on your statements, is which you have no longer had numerous journey with dogs with a severe prey force. severe prey force breeds comprise huskies, chows, and terriers. even with the undeniable fact that, somebody dogs's prey force could selection broadly from the breed "norm." As for what i could want executed if a dogs killed my cat, it may count number on the placement. If my cat became interior the dogs's backyard, then i could beat myself up for years for no longer exact containing my animal, and pass away the dogs and its proprietor on my own. it fairly is no longer the owner's fault that my cat broke into their backyard, so no prosecution is needed. If the dogs broke into my backyard/living house and killed my cat, then i could want the owner to pay for the loss, and that i could want the dogs re-homed with a diverse proprietor who will relatively exact comprise their dogs. in the event that they met "available" (e.g., the two animals have been working loose on the line), then the two vendors are responsible for the incident. The dogs's proprietor ought to nonetheless be prosecuted. however the cat proprietor ought to settle for partial accountability, to boot. As for if the dogs injury or killed someone, this is a thoroughly diverse remember. counting on the placement and the quantity of the injuries, the dogs desires to be re-homed or probably placed down. even nonetheless I relatively have faith that the owner is regularly responsible for the attack, undesirable guidance could reason irreparable injury and that i could fairly see the dogs placed down than possibility it hurting somebody else. extra often than no longer, i think of maximum of those circumstances are appropriate desperate by utilising an animal behaviorist (or a panel of behaviorists), no longer a layperson or lawmaker or decide.

Dogs don't get put down just for biting someone, unless it has been proven they are a dangerous dog or have caused severe injury or death. It is rare for a cat to cause this kind of life threatening injury to someone.
