Well, I just bought this chinchilla maybe a week or two ago. He is three months old and is grey. I've had rodents in the past but never had a chinchilla. So, I know the basic care and happiness for these types of animals. But my chinchilla has been here for more than a couple days now and he's still not used to me. He will let me hold him but he bucks and tries to get back in his cage, his safety zone. He barks at me when i try to pet him and he bites me more than he should. He hasn't drawn blood yet but he will one of these days. What should I do? They live so long and I really want him to trust and know I would never do anything to hurt or scare him. How can I get him to understand that? Thanks for any replies in advance. : )

My boyfriend and I just bought an albino kit today, he's SOOO cute and his name is Coop. I have a few questions to all ferret owners who can help:

I know that he will never smell good, but my landlord was very kind in not making me pay the $400 pet deposit so I want to know everything I can do to keep the smell to a minimum. So far I have read many different things like, "wash him often or don't wash too often", I don't know, so I need someone with experience to tell me =)

Also my little guy seems to be a bit of a biter, most times it's not bad at all, but sometimes it's hard, and enough to break the skin and bleed, does anyone know how I can make him stop?

what should I use for bedding? The pet store gave me wood sheddings, but I've read on here that they're bad for his skin, Are old towels ok?

Do I need the special ferret litter for his litter box? i would love to use kitty litter just because the ferret litter is pretty expensive...

Could I move easily with him? =)

Do you think they should make it illegal for you to not have your pet spayed or neutered?

I have two rats that i got last year about around this time of year. There names are Cookie and Ruby. I have noticed that Cookie thinks she is the big shot in the cage so she i think beats up Ruby. Because i look at Ruby and she has a TON of bites under her mouthe. It looks really sad. They are both girls. And they both came from the same litter. I also got them from a breeder. But she is a good breeder. Not a bad one that just does it for fun or what ever you would say. I was just wondering is there anything that i could rub on the scabs? I also have noticed that she seems kind of sick. But i am not sure if she is sick for sure. I am just mostly worried about the bites under her jaw/mouthe. I just need to know if i can put something on them to make them go away or make SOME of them go away. Or even something that would make them a little better.
Thank You!

I know I like cold water on my hair (crew cut). I wet our rabbit today, he didnt seem to mind. Also, he tends to sit under the dripping water bottle sometimes.

I need all the information you have on showing rabbits.

What should I bring?
What are entry forms and remark cards, where do I get them?
How do I know if a registrar is there?

Things like that

I have 3 adults and 4 baby rabbits in my backyard. The babies are about 3 months old and were in a large cage together. A week ago, one turned up dead. I thought it had eaten something bad and was glad that the others looked fine. The next day one more showed signs of sickness. It had diarrhea really bad (like excreeting wet rabbit food) and hardly moved when I first found it. A few hours in the house and it looked better, but died later that evening after messing itself again. I have been regularly checking the others and all seemed well, but 2 days ago another was dead in the cage. I have been feeding all my rabbits the same food. I have not been giving them strange treats. I am afraid they will all die off of this mysterious illeness if I don't figure out where it's coming from or how to prevent it. I don't want to wait for another one to turn up ill so I can take it to the vet. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Today is day two bonding my rabbits. Yesterday, I took both of them out for car rides twice. I read that the stressful environment will cause them to not fight and cuddle close together. One of my rabbits, Coco (who I had gotten first), cuddled with my other rabbit, Panda Bear (who I had gotten a year after Coco), for a while. But then every once in a while she would go up behind him and bite his butt!

But I know that they will fight, because they have before, so I took a time out. So I took Coco to the side everytime she tried to sneak up behind Panda Bear and nip him, because if she does, then they will fight. But other than that, the two car rides went pretty well. So today we put them both in a neutral area, but I can't let them get near each other unless I pet one of them and close their eyes. I usually pet Coco and close her eyes, so she won't see Panda Bear when he wants to sniff her, or else she will lunge for him!

I decided on getting a bunny as a pet but then someone told me that his bunny didn't love him. This other guy told him that bunnies aren't made to show affection and that if you want a dog that will truly love you and be loyal then you should go for a dog. So do bunnies not love you? Do they now show any affection? Please help Most detailed answer gets best answer

It would mainly be a one person pet, owned by a twelve year old. Something that would like her quite a bit, and be gentle, with a not long but not short lifespand?

I have a rescue mare and we have given her a 4-shot combo and West Nile vaccination. She is due again for West Nile and I was wondering if I should do her Booster at the same time. We've read that Boosters are only needed if they are around lots of other horses... she lives with her 2-month-old colt and 2 other mares (no foals) currently. However, being a rescue (we got her a couple months ago) I think she might need it. Any suggestions...?

I don't want to harm him. I'm sure I'll get a lot of ugly answers to this question, so just to let you know, if you talk about killing him I'm going to give you a big old thumbs down. Right now, he's behind a shelf and i've set up a trail of mozzerrella crumbs leading him back to my open door, outside of which there is a larger piece of cheese.... I am not even certain if mice like mozzerrella.... Ideas, please???

I'm doing some research and I'm having trouble finding something on this topic. I need some info on pet therapists/therapy (the type where the pet is the patient not where they assist). Know of any websites?

I found these baby bunnies in our garden, there were 3 and my dad said he saw the mama and babies scamper off but I went outside later and saw one little bunny still all alone in our garden. Has this one been forgotten or lost? I don't want it to die. I can tell it is probably old enough not to need milk anymore. Should I do something or leave it alone?

I'm a bit hysterical here.

I just bought a mouse from a pet store to feed to my snake. But seconds after I opened the bag, the mouse leaped out and ran under my bed. I got down on the ground and searched for five minutes before I heard run out of my room and into a hallway closet. I dove for it and grabbed it but it-

BIT ME!

I let it go and blood dripped down my finger.

How do I know if I'm rabid or not... the pet store owner always sticks his hand inside the cage to grab mice, but I don't know what kind of infectants he uses.

P.S: I caught the ********* mouse and my snake had a good meal.
