Bunnies are kinda like mice or hamsters they like you they just don't show you a lot of affection. Your friend is right if you want an animal to show you love get a dog or even a cat!

All animals show affection. Some dont show it so obvious. The rabbit probably wasnt 2 happy w/ the other guy so it didn't show affection. Rabbits will show affectoin if they r happy and not scared but u might not be able to tell. It could possibly just stay near u. If u want an animal that u can really tell it likes u get a cat or dog. They are very loyal if u treat them nicely. Be sure to do research on the type of dog or cat that would best fit your life style and family.

Behavior varies with breed tremendously. I've had a few breeds, and my wife (who used to breed them) has had more than 10 breeds.
Anyway, French Lops are the most affectionate in my experience. We've had FL's that follow you around like a dog, sit on your lap, nuzzle and cuddle, and want to be held. Not all of them are the same, of course, but there are a lot of good FL's.
My best tip is to go and see them as young as possible. By the time they're ready to go (weaned), you'll have an idea of their personalities. Our best little guy was noticeably more affectionate than most when he was very young. Oh... and buy from a breeder, not a pet store. Breeders will always help you find the right animal for you, often even referring you to other breeders when their animal isn't what you need/want.
Good luck!

I don't think bunnys are affectionate. The most affectionate pets are dogs and birds. The bird have to be of the parot kind like a cockatiel, conure or bigger parrot. Birds get possesive though and some of them fall in love with only one person in the house. They are dirty too. Dogs are affectionate al around. Cats ae a bit less affectionate. It may depend on the cat. Some cats love to be petted while other could care less. Also cats are moody animals. They hide most of the day then come out of nowhere for some affection. Usualy at a time when you don't want to be affectionate. On the plus side cats are quiet. well, when compare to birds and dogs. Also, they are the easiest maintenance wise. Birds poop too damn much and dogs require that you walk them and take them out do their bussinness. I have never had a rat. I can tell you however, that most rodents are not afectionate either. They really don't like to be held. Remember that rodents are prey animal. Being held usually mean that some predator is taking them away to eat them. Probably the reason why they don't like to be held.
My brother in law had a couple of hermit crabs. The boy really liked his pets and play with them often. He made it look like great pets. So, my wife got the itch and in rder to please her we went and got a starter kit. Those danm crabs only come out at night. They are not playful or affectionate. Is more to look at. The only time you see them moving is when you give them a bath. Not a good pet. We where fooled by our bother in law behavior. Hey he was a kid so in his mind they made great pets.
My advice is to get a cat or a dog. If you want a high energy animal get a dog. They are very loyal and social. They also may warn you of strangers and can protect you. Not all but they can. However, some bark too much. Cats are very quiet and low maintenance but are stubborn. Cats think they own you and you are there to serve them. Notice is the opposite of a dog. Low maintenance though plus they catch mice and other varmins which is a plus.
On the plus side of rabbits is that if you get tire of it you can always make stu.

Rabbits definetly love their people, but some show it differently than others. I have four rabbits right now. One "little old man" of a rabbit still jumps to the front of the cage whenever I'm nearby. He will hop around for my attention and then sit happily as I pet him. He will get in the way of closing the door if I haven't given him enough attention. He is VERY lovable. I have another, a young gal, who loves to be pet but won't hold still. She loves to play with plastic balls and in paper sacks. But once she has had her fun she will snuggle with me for a while before going back to her cage. One other likes to be pet, but not held. And the last is still young and shy. Rabbits have personalities just like dogs, but a dog needs the whole house or a back yard to play off it's energy. If you can't provide either of these, than a rabbit could be the pet for you. It can live happily in it's cage if you visit and play with it often enough. Also, rabbits are a lot less expensive to feed and care for. Give one a try if this is the type of animal you are drawn to.

awww a pet bunny! well dogs are loving caring and always loyl ...stuff like that but of course bunnies will show you afection!! from first hand expierence (i have a bunny) they cuddle with you and are REALLY cute. And if you want to have a bunny, then you should get one, and if you want a dog then get one. A dog would give the most affection, but as long as you love your bunnie, its going to love you too. (and as long as you feed it... lol) but honestly i love my bunny rabbit and he is just adorable. good luck with this one no matter what animal u get as long as u show it afection it will show you some.

Well, rabbits aren't very affectionate because their instincts are to survive and reproduce, thats it. Their minds a set on those two things. Dogs on the other hand have more complex minds. They are unbelievably affectionate if you treat them right. I've had both a dog and a rabbit before... I would suggest a dog for a simple reason. They're playful and WILL LOVE YOU... So... Simply, a dog will live longer and love you more... Go for the dog...
Just as an added bit, for a breed, I would suggest a Jack Russle if you like playful dogs, or a collie if you like calmer, but also sometimes playful dogs... Hope I helped!

bunnys are a heard pet but if your dovited they are wonderfull pets they do show affection but you have to be able to notice. i would suggest a male rabbit females are stuck up and teriturial . males show affection alout more. Rabbis are one of the few animals that i know of that have a sence of humer they will mess with you alout like ferrits do. If your rabbit is mad at you unlike a dog that will go hide the rabbit will plot evel plans against you if your really intrested in a rabbit read through the forms at rabbit.org make sure your have thimithy hay around because rabbits get the scream sh*ts alout and thimithy hay drys them right up rabbits can die easily from the runs. also for the 1st 6 to 8 moths you should feed you rabbit alfipha hay it will fatten them up but after 6 or so months cut back of they will get huge. Dont buy a rabbit from the pet store expecially stay away from dwarf and lopsue forgive me i cant spell the long eared rabbits you see commonly in the pet store these rabbits are inbred massibly and sold as throw away pert for kids that want rabbits around easter then tire of the pet in a few weeks. You can fond some great rabbits at the animal shelter all the rabbits i got from pet stores died within weeks ive had my shelter rabbit for about a year and she is doing great. also rabbits like to chew on wires so if you have a special room for your rabbit its best to put the wires inside a pvc pipe or soak some paper towls in hot sause and put hot pepper seeds on it then wrap around the wires and cover with electrical tape.

Try a Guenna pig. I had one and it was like a mixture between the two. A pet rat may even do. Rats make perfect pets.
