I once saw a dog get crushed by a car and it got up slowly and laid down on a sidewalk. It was one of the worst feelings ever and I couldn't stop thinking about that dog for like a week.

I got my puppy a week ago today, and well his previous owners taught him to go on those training pads.. Which my mom put all around the house.. BUT I want to train him so he goes outside.. I take him outside every 45-60 minutes.. and he goes outside.. BUT he will go on the pads and my mom praises him, and I praise him when he goes outside.. Ugh I want to get rid of those pads and just teach him so he goes outside.. and my mom disagrees, Its my dog, I clean up his mess not her so she doesnt have to worry about cleaning.. I dont even know how they train a dog.. Anyone have any adivice to wean him off of the pads? hes 9 weeks old

I got a pet rat today, I have never had a rat pet before even thought I've had all kinds of pets. Are rats like mice or are they more "trainable"? And how can I make my pet rat not poop or pee whenever it is outside its cage. How big do rats get? My rat its an albino and its 8 week old or so and its about 6 inches long (no tail included) Do they learn their names when called? My pet rat is very shy and calm, is this normal? He does seems healthy and eats just fine. Any ideas of what I could name him? Thanks

When riding, I always try to be sensitive and alert to my horse's needs. But I don't know when exactly does he get tired and when to stop. How do I know?

My horse neck reigns great with a halter. My kids ride her with a hatler and rope. But she does act up for me. And when she does act up, I have no control with just a halter. I am confused. The point is not dominance... so why use a bit to cause the horse discomfort to the point of pain to control it? hackmores too are used for more 'control' then a halter. I am not looking for answers from people that say you need dominance or control. I believe in firmness.. but not domiance and abuse

I'm a guy,32 years old who is just terrified of house mice.Me and my girlfriend have been living in our apartment for seven years and never had a problem with house mice until about a month ago.We have already caught seven and still have atleast one more here as i saw one earlier today running across my kitchen floor.Every time we catch one my girlfriend has to get rid of them for i am too scared to even look at them .She thinks i'm silly for being afraid of a little mouse but i can't help it,I hate everything about them,Their long tails and how fast they are.Are there any other men out there terrified of mice like me ?

My dog is a border collie that I rescued from the local shelter so I do not know her history or even how old she is, (though I'm guessing around 4) She is a very active dog but one of the things that scares her the most is if you stick your tongue out at her! It's very odd but anything with your mouth that she sees she gets freaked out. Even if I'm talking nicely to her and she sees me over-pronounciate it will scare her horribly. Any noise other than talking she sees you make scares her and I don't know how to help her. I would just not do it but it's very hard not to have her see you talk to her. Does anybody else have a problem like this with their dog, or ideas of how to help. Anything is fine.

My horse is fine on his left lead, but is very stiff to the right. I don't need him to do a dramatic bend, just enough to loosen up over fences. He loosens a little when I circle him to the right, but I want to do some other exercises that help him. Suggestions?

Bouncing Bob was riding a particularly frisky horse when suddenly its bridle came off. As they raced down the road, a screaming Bob clung to the horse's ears for dear life. Out of the corner of his eye, Bob saw a car coming, and realizing the horse was completely out of control, he panicked. Flailing his arms about, he accidentally caused the horse to come to an abrupt halt. What could Bouncing Bob have done to make the horse stop?

i am currently starting to ride a 16'3 draft horse (i am not sure what breed he is, he actually looks somewhat like a friesian)
i have been riding for 8 years or so, mainly dressage but i can jump aswell.
i just want to know if there is anyone that can give me some more tips on how to get this horse back into shape, he hasnt been ridden for a long time although suprisingly he does listen to most of my aids except for my legs. also he has some problems with the canter and he cant jump.
i know it takes a lot of time, i (still) ride a pony that i started training last summer and right now she is in a good shape again. so i did it before, i just want to know whether some people have some suggestions on how to make this fun for both me and him. (he is an absolute sweet heart and is very brave!)

Yea, it suck that animals have to be killed but isn't more important to educated people about the problem? At the current rate, if there were no kill shelters, we would be stepping on animals as we walked down the road. It is the harsh reality. This is why fixing your pets is SOOOO important! Thanks on any answers. Please watch this movie if you care ... http://brightlion.com/InHope/InHope_en.aspx
