Yea, it suck that animals have to be killed but isn't more important to educated people about the problem? At the current rate, if there were no kill shelters, we would be stepping on animals as we walked down the road. It is the harsh reality. This is why fixing your pets is SOOOO important! Thanks on any answers. Please watch this movie if you care ... http://brightlion.com/InHope/InHope_en.aspx

It is not registered breeders fault. Its all the people who think that it is striping the animal of some sort of diginty. As for the "TNR" program, I dont agree with that either. Those animals, like feral cats, are not natual. Kill shelters are not a 'cheap' way out. I work at a kill shelter. You know that kill shelters take in all the animals brought to them, no kill shelters have to turn people away, because they dont have room. Now, would you rather a person who can not longer keep the animal (for whatever reason) that it to a shelter or let it go. At least in a shelter, there is a chance for it to get place in a new home. If they were to just let in on the streets, it will get hit by a car, it attacked by something, or get sick and die painfully. Hmmm... I think that the choice clear. Humanely put it to sleep or let it die in the streets, painfully.

Unfortunately you are so right. It is sad that there are so many out there who don't care enough about their pets to take proper care of them. In turn, they breed and then we have even more unwanted animals.

I really hate to see animals put down, but it is a must in some cases. There just are not enough homes for them all.

Kill shelters are NOT in need. What is in need is humans having the common sense to be a responsible pet owner. And Spaying or Nuetering their pet. There ARE cheap options. Kill shelters just give more people an easy way out to their commitment, and that just aint right.
I support TNR (trap nueter release) because it is a valiant program. The shelter trap the feral cats, fix them, give them all their shots and put them back into the colony they were found in. They also have large crate containers as "homes" for the ferals, with a food supply so that they stay within an area and don't end up in the backyards.
The reason they are left out on the streets and not put up for adoption, or kept at the shelters, or KILLED, is because it helps with rat population. It helps with bird population and so forth. If you killed all those cats, then you'de have rats. Or whatever in place of the cats.
I don't know about you people,. but i'll take cats over rats anyday.

You are right to some dergee- but it is not always a breeder that is at fault! They only keep a bloodline that is registered and if they are really caring then they allow ONLY those who will provide great homes for the babes! We have both and it is the so sad that people let their animals have more when it is not needed but what about people like us who take on the feral cats etc that come to us but will not let us touch them.... we put out food and water but can not catch them to give them medical needs?_ If you seen a child that was in need would you shut the door? they all are helpless....Animal shelters are a great place for animals that have been abused ,homeless and the best family members have come from there!- Alot of people do not care but some like me can not just call the animal control and see them die...

I agree with you. People who don't care for their animals and take responsibility for having them are the problem. Animals need to spayed or neutered in order to help the pet population. Bob Barker says it on every episode of The Price is Right! Until there are better pet owners in this country, there needs to be kill shelters. I know it's an awful thing to say, and I hate the thought of animals being put down because they can't find a home, but it's the truth! The truth isn't always pretty!

why cant people see that it is the humans fault their is an overpopulation of unwanted pets. and why cant we pass a law that you have to be a licensed breeder to have an unnuetered or unspayed pet and that it is the breeders responsibility to have the pet spayed or nuetered before a sale of that animal. or that if you have pets that are not spayed or nuetered you get fined. i have 15 pets and 5 of them are adopted from the street and ALL of them are spayed and nuetered.
