My dog is a border collie that I rescued from the local shelter so I do not know her history or even how old she is, (though I'm guessing around 4) She is a very active dog but one of the things that scares her the most is if you stick your tongue out at her! It's very odd but anything with your mouth that she sees she gets freaked out. Even if I'm talking nicely to her and she sees me over-pronounciate it will scare her horribly. Any noise other than talking she sees you make scares her and I don't know how to help her. I would just not do it but it's very hard not to have her see you talk to her. Does anybody else have a problem like this with their dog, or ideas of how to help. Anything is fine.

the best thing i can tell you is that trust comes in time...she will first learn that you love her and that what used to hurt her from another person doesnt from you, whatever it may have been. just continue to give her a ton of love, never yell at her if you can help it, and if you cant, be very quick to calm and reassure her that everything is ok. talk all the time to her...even sing to her. get her to play with you so that she makes you laugh. this may scare her...but the more she comes to love and trust you, the more she will find that she likes it when you laugh and that it doesnt hurt her. it may be that where she was someone bit her. and the human mouth hold scary memories for her. there are some mean people out there who think a good hard bite is how u teach a dog not to bite. give her time to learn to love and trust you...with these she can overcome a great many fears....good luck to you both
