The domestic dog - and some are more appropriate for families than others. Some are far more appropriate for the farm or as show dogs (which often don't make very good pets). Great big dogs are not necessarily the better pet, and very little ones often do poorly around small children who don't know how to act around animals. In my forty years as a nurse, I've seen a lot of dog-bitten children, and the most bites were done by small, frightened dogs that were being hurt by the small children.

Depends on:
-Type of living establishment you have (house/apartment/dorm).
-Your lifestyle (are you home alot or gone most of the time).
-Do you have any other pets?
-Do you have a yard or live in the city?
-Do you want a high maintenance pet (cat) or one that basically takes care of itself with little interaction from you (fish)?
Factor all of these in before you decide on the best pet for you.

I know a lot of people will tell you otherwise, a ball python. They are relatively small and easy to care for. They don't need very much interaction, and only eat twice a month or less. They don't pee on the carpet bare even bite, They are really docile if you do decide to take it out.

I'd have to say Boxer Dogs! they are awesome! they are smart and pretty easy to train. We have a female brindle, Daisy and we have her 6 week old male brindle puppy, Brutis. if you breed them, you can sell the pups for 300-650, depending on where you live. They are the best breed of dog that I have ever owned. they are so family freindly. They love our kids!
